The first few times I played condemned I didn't think there were many guns in it. For whatever reason, the last time I played I managed to find most of them which meant that I pretty much had a gun the whole game. There are a lot more guns hidden through the levels than is obvious if you don't sift through the environments carefully.

Condemned does have guns, but they're relatively rare and you can't put more ammo in them. Condemned 2 has more guns and you can put more ammo in them, but you can still only carry one.
That's what I like about devs with guts to try out something realistic. We should already be past the age of 20 guns in our belt and ammo growing up on trees by now (oh and medkits all around the house). I gotta try those games...

They have their faults. C1 is semi-broken on PC, and C2 isn't even on the PC. Both are on 360, though.
C1's biggest fault is its gameplay. The story is fine, even when it gets startlingly silly towards the end, but the gameplay- combat especially- is pretty goddamn samey and gets quite old after a while. C2 improves the combat and investigative elements by about 11 notches, but the story is so goddamned dumb I was screaming at my TV. The higher emphasis on gunplay is also a downside as it's a pain in the ass on a controller.

And on ps3. I`ve got that version. Not bad game all in all, though quite random. Also they stole one of the enemies straight out of Bioshock. Same look, same weapon even.
Crazy chick with a mask on carrying a big fan-like weapon if you dont know what I`m on about.
I really need to beat that game at some point.

If you're referring to that one loony who follows you around the burning toy factory in C2, that's not a fan, that's a sawblade lollipop. Her clown getup ties in with the setting.

You really don't... I was super excited when I realized it was out on ps3 (I ended up with one without ever planning on getting one and like Dethtoll said, it isn't on PC) and so I bought it for a scant $15, Some great stuff in the first 2/3 but then when the story starts to get really stupid.... You'll wished you let the ending stay a mystery. [/complain]

Apart from a handful of sections, guns didn't even really come into play much in Condemned 2. The unfortunate reality is those gun sections do blow, especially when they are tacked onto the most memorable sequence of the game. Fuck it's hilarious letting a mate start one of the condemned games, leaving for a couple of hours, and then coming back to find them completely crushed.

Jedi Outcast and Academy are excellent sword games for obvious reasons. If you haven't played those, get them.

i'm surprised noone has mentioned Deus Ex yet, the best hardcore pc game ever. it has adorable first person (nano)sword action. more so, you can upgrade your melee weapon skill and slay your enemies with one swing of the sword. everyone knows that the action part of Deus Ex is the weakest part of the game, but you cannot say that about the sword action, it's really really sweet.

i thought the action was awesome, it just didn't feature lots of shooting and explosions (with my playstyle) but legboosting down a skyscraper and legging through a group of angry bots shooting rockets at you was awesome. and one-hit sword kills and remote controlled sentrybots never get old.
