Seriously, what is with these fan patches for VtM: Bloodlines? I mean, the final (1.2?) patch was just fine and the (stupidly) competing patches seem to change too many gameplay things. I dunno, a lot of it seems to be bullshit changes that seem will never end. Are they worth a shit, or are they just change for change's sake?
I am sort of a purist, in regards to PC games. I rarely go for mods that change much of the original single-player experience. I like bug-fixes and compatibility patches, but trying to envision the devs' 'original intentions' just smacks of arrogance to me and I avoid like the plague.

Patches? There is only one patch. Don't want changes? Don't install the plus version. What's your problem?

Yes. Shadowrun was originaly (as far as I know) a pen, paper and dice game just like Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, only more complex, harder to learn and futuristic.
Oh ye gods, I am
old. :erg:

There ya go, play Vampire TM: Bloodlines with the fan patch installed. Terrific game that, one of the best RPGs of the past decade.
Indeed. Best RPG since Deus Ex.
Though it's not very medieval. You do get to use mêlée weapons, including swords, but you get forced into third person view whenever you ready them. (I believe there's a hack to stop it from doing that, but it's a bit buggy IIRC.)

The unofficial patches come in two versions, a "normal" version which contains only bug-fixes, and a "plus" version that modifies the gameplay. Go for the normal version.

Ah, so that's it. Thanks NV. I have been meaning to reinstall for some time now, I will try the Normal Ver. and see what it's like.

Isn't tessera's 'true vtmb patch' supposed to leave the original game mainly intact?
Also, (
http://ch.telefragged.com/fq/) Fantasy Quake: Rise of the Phoenix. It's the only game I can think of which did crossbows properly as well.

He's a big immature drama queen, I'd avoid that patch on principle alone. Also there's the nude skins that are reportedly bundled.

I saw a video of it and the dialogues are just like in Oblivion... you know, the character is 4 feet away from you and he pops up at "kissing distance" (yuuuk...) while he speaks and then pops out 4 feet away again...
I sincerelly hate that. 1st cuz they just stand still while they talk, moving nothing more than their arms and their head to emphasize it, and 2nd cuz you can never have a 3 (or more) person dialogue... It's so un-natural... so mechanic (the most unimersive dialogue method I've seen). (Another reason why oblivion seemed nonsense to me)
This doesn't make me avoid trying it, but it gets me disapointed from the start... I may try it...
