As some of you might know, Myst Online was shut down by Gametap about half a year ago. However, in more recent developments, Gametap has given back the rights to Cyan. But Cyan was already short-staffed on Myst Online, so they're not going to relaunch Myst Online with bells and whistles. Therefore, the Myst Online Restoration Experiment, MORE, was born.
Cyan does not intend to create any new content for MORE (yet). MORE is more of a tribute to the fantastic community they have of of Myst and URU fans.
But that's where everyone else comes in. With MORE, Cyan is going to release a toolkit that allows (
http://guildofwriters.com/wiki/) Writers to create content for MORE. Anyone can be a Writer. Should your Age be approved by the (
http://www.guildofmaintainers.org/) Guild of Maintainers (essentally the guild of betatesters), it will get an official linking book on the servers.
The price to play MORE is estimated to be about 25$ per 6 months, which should allow Cyan to just break even with the server and maintainance costs.
Read the (
http://www.mystonline.com/) news article here for more information.
Personally, I'm touched that a developer actually cares about its fanbase. It reminds me of how Looking Glass Studios gave us DromEd. I hope MORE will succeed as well as Thief FMs have, and give us lots of new Ages to explore.

Shouldn't that be MORP?

D'oh. It's Experiment, not Project.
