Moss arrows... - by CD Set

Was I the only one who never really used the moss arrows... at all? Throughout the entire series?
I always figured it was just the small patches it produces that are actually quiet, and that you had to be very precise in where you stepped. I just tried using one though, and it seems there's a "field of effect" (in lack of a better term). Man, do I feel stupid.
Nevertheless, I never really used the noisemakers either. I think we can all agree that water and gas are the most effective, especially on expert. Okay, maybe the noisemakers are good too, and I'm just bad at using 'em.

I hardly ever use moss arrows, and noisemakers... nah, I just chuck someone's priceless vase or something to make noise! Fire arrows are the most fun!

I rarely use moss arrows, save for a few tough spots like Circle of Strain 2 with the tiled area. I almost never use noise makers at all either. If I want noise, I'll fire a broadhead at the wall. This is sometimes more effective because it makes just a little noise and gets that one guard's attention, rather than creating a large disturbance.

I remember shooting a moss arrow in somebodys mouth (in T3). Funny.

Moss arrows are useful only when you're forced to move through marble/tiles/metal quickly AND there are people listening. So, if you use blackjack at all, they become quite useless xd

Man, I really disliked the slapstick foolishness in T3. If you got a moss arrow in the mouth, it would grown down your throat and kill you. It wouldn't be quite the agonizing death I'm sure.

Noisemaker arrows are useful for luring adversaries into the Soulforge trash compactors. That's about all I use them for.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. I wonder if the developers and mission builders ever played around with elevators like this.
Sure is fun: lean, shot noisemaker, and wait for Mr bot to examine the bottom of the elevator shaft. :ebil:

Noisemakers are great for introducing natural enemies to each other. The burricks and zombies in The Haunted Cathedral for instance. Also useful for getting stationary guards to walk into a better position for blackjacking. Nice thing is that you only need one because you can reuse them, even if you shoot them against a hard surface.
Moss arrows make a couple of locations less hassle to deal with. In The Sword I save 'em up for the area around the sword. Makes those three upper level guards easy to run up behind.
I like the fire arrows for getting rid of insect swarms.

The only time I use moss arrows is when the enemy AI are super-alert and can hear the slightest footfall or noise. Especially when I have to move quickly. I have to be in a very tight spot to use a noise maker arrow; mostly to get the guards, etc., to move away from the area I'm heading towards. In general though, moss & noisemaker arrows tend to just sit in my weapons inventory from start to finish.
