The cutscene music at the end of T1 will always be my favourite.

Yup, love all these suggestions. My additions include:
The riff you hear upon infiltrating the casino in Thieve's Guild. (Beet1Jbg in Thief, can't remember where it was played there)
The "alarmish" music in Framed. I thought several times I had set the alarms off only to realize it was the music.
And of course, the best music is a part of the only map in which the music was in fact part of the level design. Yup, Down in the Bonehoard's "pipe music" combined with that Horn of Quintus teasing you every step of the way. Creepy!
Words of Karras on 5/2/2003 at 06:18
Hi people, I am new. Anytime you need to email me, do so. That intro aside, I would have to agree that the sad track from Trail of Blood is indeed a good one.
Both Thief games have excellent sound effects and music, so good I think that someone should put out a Thief Trax CD or something. Perhaps the original tracks and some of the best fan made tracks, it could also double as a Thief series collection to pay tribute to Looking Glass' masterpiece.
Some suggestions could be:
1. Music
2. New levels
3. Wallpaper
4. Themes
5. DromEd stuff for editors
6. PDF Encyclopedia to the world of Thief (ok maybe that is too big a job, but who wouldn't want to look up famous characters in the games, the hammers and mechanists saint and of course, places, creatures, inventory items, etc.
But getting back to the original point of this posting, Thief's audio is like no other. While we are on the subject, what are peoples favourite lines or sound files from the games?
Mine are:
1. All should hear the words of Karras - Karras' Patrol Robot
2. What boldness is this? - Mechanist
3. Look, he's got a bow! - Male civilian
4. Let's see how you look as a porcepine (excuse the spelling) - Mechanista
5. Buba-dababa-baba-daba-buburupbaba-bupbaba - Guard, Thief
6. You need volunteers, and I can provide them.... - Sherrif Truart
7. I see him! - Female civilian
8. Civilians death crys when being burnt alive in open fire!
9. Guard mutterings
10. All the Thief music!

Here is some of the Thief music that strikes me (although I must be overlooking a good deal of quality stuff, even if you don't count the awesome ambient sounds): Trail of Blood, Keepers' Library, Thief ending cutscene, Thief intros, the Horn of Quintus, and Gregorian chant. Does anyone have anything to add that I forgot?

Nobody seems to have mention the ambience in Bafford's, which I enjoyed, and added tremendously to the ambience of the level. Particularly the upper floor music (snd/sfx/Tone1-Tone5) the basement music (snd/sfx/M02bs1) and the oscillating, almost scream-like tone that begins in the basement and follows you for the entire level (snd/sfx/M02bs2a-d) Eerie, and effective.

this is a great topic.
the music that will always make me think of those many lonely nights (i have no friends or life) playing thief with headphones on, beside a small candle on my desk would have to be /snd/sfx/m04ring.wav
play that for me when im 87 and i'll still remember thief (and being terrified from it)

Yup, Down in the Bonehoard's "pipe music" combined with that Horn of Quintus teasing you every step of the way. Creepy! Oh, how could I forget about the Horn of Quintus??? It's number 1 for me, on par with Trail of Blood village sad tune! Sound of the Horn definitely adds HUGE amount of so-called atmosphere to the level.
I remember when I first heard the Horn. I was staying at the beginning of a Burrick tunnel where the very first sign of Felix group can be seen and I even wasn't sure if I heard something or not. The sound was almost unheard but when I did some steps forward I heard very beautiful sad enigmatic tune and I was so amazed that I stood there quite a time and just listened it again and again.
