Hey can you German players post up those files? I'm sure we'd all like to hear how the German stuff goes.
Oh and my last post in this thread was BEFORE I bought Thief Gold. Now I change my mind. The best one is in the Thieves Guild.

Yep yep these are all great :)
One bit of audio (not really in-game music, I guess... or is it?) I'll always be fond of is the sweet sorrowful song the Horn plays to you for your entire journey to it in the Bonehoard. Very haunting. It took me a while from first hearing it to actually reaching it, and I had assumed it was just ambience - when I got there and realized it was the Horn the whole time... mmm... :)
Edit: hehe, now that I go back and finish reading the rest of the posts, I see that the Horn was quite a popular choice.

Edit #2: I just realized how much this thread makes me pray that Thief III's audio is in capable hands. Thief had the most unbelievable sound experience in any game, ever. That's a tough act to follow.

I know this may sound weird, but how do I listen to the sound clips?
I dont know how. I tried to open the snd.crf with a type of media player but my computer wont let me?

.crf files are normal .ZIP format files. Open them with winzip, or some other utility.
Heh, when I first got thief, and was browsing through the RES directory, on a whim I decided to open one in a hex editor. I recognized the header as a (pk)ZIP format and tried it. Boy did I think I was l33t! :D

You mean the U.S. version or German version Zylon? If you want the U.S. one, I can upload it.

Hey not bad... :thumb:
Did you cut away some parts Eshak? If you did, could you post up the whole thing? And what about the voice actors? Do they speak german or is there subtitles?
And why are there different music for different versions of Thief? Makes no sense...
Scots Taffer on 10/4/2003 at 10:32
I love the Thief ingame music and ambience, period. Just pure brilliance.
In a less addictive sense, System Shock 2 is also very well done, but after a while the thumpy beat starts to grate, unlike the peaceful meanderings of Thief's music.

Here are some more:
The tune of the wax cylinder in Shipping and Receiving:

The choir that can be heard in the Mechanist seminary in Eavesdropping:

Note that these two samples are part of the ending music that's played in the credits movie (which, as I already mentioned, has no music in the U.S. version).
