i began to think that glyph is useful to mark the area you have beaten in the game. The best compromise is to give the player a little leeway to place a glyph on certain area and update the glyph location on the map. Glyph is so underused and usually predefined based on storyline by the author

For me the most confusing maps are those with unexpected teleports on the player. I only remember Sepulchre Of The Sinistral by name, but there must be 1-2 other ones (AFAIK one with a kind of sewer with no escape) ... I hate that and aborted all these FMs. :erg:

temple of the tides did teleporting in-place but changing your direction. infuriating.

If you think Lord Alan’s basement is bad you need to check out Lord Alan’s factory.
Other nightmare maps include the castle in Nosferatu by Sensut, Brainchild and TRS 1000
Its funny you mention that @fortuni, because i always praise the Castle in Nosferatu for being not just realistic, but because i makes sense to walk around.
I dunno exactly what about Lord Alan's Basement, but i found it more confusing than Nosferatu, Brainchild or Lord Alan's Factory.
I believe its due to how Alan's Basement is made up of many similar rooms with unorthodox movement between them (some you have to go through openings). I consider myself as someone with a good sense of direction, but that map beat me.
Alchemic Allusions i think its due to the labyrinth nature of it, plus if your trying to ghost it, there's a lot of back & fourth that just makes it very confusing.
