Multiple sources, with
multiple discrepancies.
I don't have any copy of the credits that states voices in order of appearance.
Josh Randall is indeed Keeper2. Apologies and thanks for the correction.

I think it makes more sense if Dan Thron did the voice for Cutty. It sounds a lot more like his voice than Joffrey Spaulding's. But seeing as how the avi credits are right about everything else, including Josh Randall voicing one of the Keepers, I think it's a safe bet that Dan Thron did the third keeper.

Sure, but there are three Keepers in the Escape! briefing. Nate Wells as Artemus was raspy, too.
And for the almost totally irrelevant fun of it, here's a band Nate Wells was but one of many vocalists with, (

Bang Camaro. There's a picture of him at about the 3:09/3:10 mark, with sunglasses, black T-shirt, and a beer; sitting on the arm of the couch at about 3:13; in the collage, third column from the left, third row down, or, second from the right, second from the bottom. Heh heh heh. Machismo! Another vid with Nate at (

Uh...there are two in the Escape! briefing...

Very good! You've convinced me about the voice credits! (Never really looked at all that as hard as I did today, what with my usual text-based projects.) And I see there are indeed two Keepers in the briefing. Revisions commencing....
 Thank you!
Someday I'll finally get a system that plays back sound faithfully, and when I want it to. :(

Actually, it turns out we were both wrong - you were mostly right, while I was almost completely off. As you said, Nate Wells did the voice for Keeper Nate in TMA (the one who hands the note about the Mechanist seminary to Garrett in the first cutscene) and Keeper Artemus in TDS. Also, Keeper Nate's voice ("Has your wealth of knowledge grown so vast that you've lost all hunger for more?") is clearly the same as that of the 2nd Keeper from the "Escape!" briefing ("Look here - our path is true.").
But this is clearly not the same voice as that of the first Keeper in TDP. However, thinking back on it, I can hear plainly now that Artemus and the Keeper in TDP's final cutscene were voiced by the same person - which means you were right about Nate Wells doing the voice for that Keeper.
This means the voice actors behind the Keepers from TDP had to have been as follows:
Josh Randall
Keeper from training mission's briefing/main instructor ("That's not for you." "Welcome, young Garrett.")
Nate Wells
Instructors ("Well done. I did not see you approach." "Very good. I did not hear you traverse the room.")
2nd Keeper in "Escape!" briefing ("Look here - our path is true.")
Keeper in final cutscene ("So, you think you've won.")
Dan Thron
1st Keeper in "Escape!" briefing ("Since you left us, you've been a stone rolling downhill.")
Josh Randall is the only voice actor of the three that hasn't done any other voices in the series besides TDP's first Keeper - hence, why we never hear a voice that sounds like his again.

Thanks again! A tweak, if you please (yay, we're nearing a final conclusion): The schema states that Nate is the Instructor, Keeper1, and Josh is the Detector, Keeper2, who did not detect the sight or sound of Garrett's approaches (the AIs are labeled SightDetector and HearingDetector in DromEd).
Examples:
Keeper1\ke1m0103: Welcome, young Garrett.
Keeper1\ke1m0104: In the nearby rooms I will instruct you in the various skills you will need to survive. Please stay in the entrance area to each room while I explain the room's purpose. When you are ready to begin your lessons, proceed down this hallway to the first room.
Keeper2\ke2m0101: I see you there, lad!
Keeper2\ke2m0102: Well done. I did not see you approach.
Keeper2\ke2m0103: I could hear that!
Keeper2\ke2m0104: Very good. I did not hear you traverse the room.
I don't have a problem with the Third Keeper Mayer, though. I wonder that we never hear mention the title of "Second Keeper", nor do we know how many have a hierarchical title.

Hmm...it's hard to believe that the first Keeper is voiced by Nate Wells, especially when you compare the similarities between the voices of Keeper Nate, the 2nd Keeper from the "Escape!" briefing, and the detectors from the training mission. They all sound like the same person. The first Keeper's voice sounds strikingly different from them - even in accent. But I guess I can't argue with the schemas...
You know, you're right about there being three Keepers in the Escape! briefing after all. Having inspected the visuals of the briefing very carefully now, I can see there are definitely three blurry figures shown through the vines.
jtr7 on 14/12/2008 at 04:23
Yes. I suspect that's the seed of my confusion about Nate voicing which Keepers. I remember being surprised to find that Nate did Artemus, 'cause it didn't sound like the others, to me. Anyway, as you can tell, since Nate is a Keeper in all the games, I lean towards him, though I am a bigger fan of Thron's work.
Back on the main topic, are there any other crucial weapons, equipment, etc., that should be explored?
The Shroud on 14/12/2008 at 04:46
I'll have to edit the script to include three Keepers rescuing Garrett now. Heh.
