Why, I just love sequels to old games made by completely random people which universally try to "bring in new players".
How could that ever go wrong?

With a number of games, I'd love games set in the same world that recapture the atmosphere and gameplay (with improvements) rather than actual sequels. Would I want a sequel to Planescape Torment or Grim Fandango? Not really. Those stories are over. I'd love to return to those worlds, though!

A decent Thief 4 game(no modern setting and not watered down)
Legacy of Kain 6(The series needs a conclusion, dammit)
Metal Gear Solid 5(Of course they can't use Solid Snake but more stuff involving Big Boss would be awesome)

Severance:Blade of Darkness, yes. What a great game.

Why the hell are people so scared that Thief 4 will have a modern setting? If they're going to use the IP, then I can't see why they would disregard the entire contents of all the previous games. If they were going to have a modern setting, they wouldn't bother using the name thief, and certainly wouldn't sell it as a sequel to the previous games.

Games that don't have actual sequels, nor has one ever been announced:
Quake
Psychonauts
Arx Fatalis
Mig Alley
Richard Burns Rally
Star Wars Republic Commando
Game series that I'd like to see added to but probably never will:
Hexen
Descent + Freespace
No One Lives Forever
Star Wars Jedi Knight
High Heat Baseball
