Naaaaah. Doom2 felt more like an expansion pack to me, I remember being a teeny bit disappointed even as a Doom-loving young 'un.
Most of mine have already been posted, possibly because there's a very limited pool of sequels that WERE much improved to their predecessor, I reckon. Often as many new problems are brought as old ones taken away.

- Street Fighter Alpha was immensely more fun than whichever SF2 variant preceded it.
- Worms 2 -- the series never enjoyed another leap as good as that

I'm currently replaying NOLF2 immediately after haing replayed NOLF1 and while it is a lot more enjoyable in some ways, the missions are nowhere near as epic as the first game. And I'm not finding stealth to be much different than the first aside from the "get out of jail free" hiding spots, granted I always immediately stick all of my experience points into stealth.

Hitman2 was like totally different game when compared to first one. In every area it was much better.
Serious Sam TSE was bigger, faster and had more action than TFE.
