I have in both, Thief 1 and 2 extreme positive mouse acceleration. Like when I move the mouse a bit I turn a bit, but if I move it fast I almost spin around twice.
I don't remember having this problem before, could it be a patch thing or so? Is there a way to fix it?

Did you play with the mouse sensitivity in the settings?

Changing the mouse sensitivity does not lessen the acceleration for me.

Try adding this line to cam_ext.cfg:
use_raw_mouse_input

I tried this in both, T1 and T2, and unfortunately it has no effect.
I test it like this: I look at a wall having my mouse placed right at the left mouse mat corner and turn 90° to the right slow and turn back again slow, than turn back fast and it spins me almost 180° when I'm back at the left mouse mat corner.
It is quite severe if you get surprised by an approaching guard and then lose orientation because you turn around too fast and too much and then run into a wall or so.

Strange. Well my only other suggestion is this more general fix: (

Interesting, I tried a pure GOG install, without enhancements. Same problem. I'm sure I had this before, but it didn't appear that severe it seems, perhaps I used such a low sensitivity before. The mouse itself has no acceleration "feature". I'll try another mouse, but I doubt the mouse is the problem.
Perhaps someone knows something that could be done about it.

Were you using the latest version of NewDark when you tried that config command I mentioned? I think it was added in 1.23.
There's a bit of acceleration for me too, I think, but I have sensitivity set low enough that it doesn't bother me.

I tried again in Thief 2 and it does indeed work. Zero acceleration. Thanks a lot!
I must say that the command "highlight_level 0" also didn't work for me initially, but after reinstalling Thief 2 and re-applying all the fixes and updates (Tafferpatcher + 1.23 and HD mod 0.9.5), the command suddenly worked. So I assume the same thing occurred with your suggestion, it works now after the re-installation.

One thing is clear, we need HD mod 1.0 and patch 1.23 for Thief Gold!

That's good to hear. :D You must have been running an older version of NewDark/Tafferpatcher. Oh and we do in fact have patch 1.23 for Thief Gold; it's contained in the most recent TFix. If you install that, both commands should work in Thief Gold as well.
Incidentally I quite like playing Thief with a toned down highlight level (of 50 or so). Glad you brought that up in t'other thread.
