Is that his first name or his surname?
Sluggs on 13/8/2007 at 08:22
I assume it's the latter, his surname. There's a possibility that it's both! Maybe his name's Garrett Garrett?

His only name. He's like Madonna... only good.

don't be silly, everyone knows his surname is Verola... :joke:
Nightstroll on 13/8/2007 at 20:26
I'd rather think that's his first name. Emilie Victor from l'Arsene's series calls Garrett "Mr Garrett" only as a sign of politeness, as you would say "Mr Frodo".
Neither the keepers nor Viktoria would have called him Garrett if it was his surname, BTW...
Nameless Voice on 13/8/2007 at 20:39
It's his only name.
I think that surnames as we know them are only a fairly recent invention. In the old days, people just had a first name, and then either a description of their trade, or the place they were from. For example, Matthew the Miller or Edward of Wickham.
The nobility would have had surnames and family names, of course, but most commoners would not have.
Surnames were only really needed when population areas became so large that there were too many people with the same name in an area, so a better way to tell them apart was needed.

Well, since this thread hasn't been filled with links to all the other threads asking the same question over the last several years, I'd like to remind/introduce the taffin' community that it was decided years ago that Garrett's first name is "Lars.":p
(Derived from "Larceny", for those who don't know...)
Truthfully though, it's his only name.
Peanuckle on 14/8/2007 at 02:32
I dunno, Garrett Lars just doesn't sound very rogue-ish to me. He's not operating a vapor farm is he?
jtr7 on 14/8/2007 at 02:42
"Lars Garrett", actually, no relation with Owen and Beru.
Nightstroll on 14/8/2007 at 13:47
Let's call it Nicky "Garrett" Larson, don't we ? :p
