Unlike Garrett, she will blink and squint. If there's a transmission of a signal coming from it, it will get hot. She could control it with a hand-held remote, and overall it would generally keep her hands free. It may have to have a fixed focal point and iris. It would be great if she's an eye-witness to an event. It could act like her personal blackbox if she were to get grievously hurt while it was recording, or if she had presence of mind to turn it on afterward.

It gives you the ability to keep a video diary of your life, in particular without anybody noticing that they are being videoed (which always changes people's behavior and makes them self-conscious). If the radio works, you could upload the video to a harddrive as you go and back it up every few weeks or so. At the end you have this massive library that's
your life, as it happened, unedited.
Reminds me of a character from the Speaker for the Dead novel.

My grandmother had a 'glass eye'. She'd have thought it really cool. She always felt it was useless and there only for cosmetic reasons. With this, it would have been doing something at least.
I had no idea that false eyes were quite so (

I think it's pretty good idea, something to look forward to in the future. Pretty useful as well if it gets zoom as well as recording functions.

Is this next gen POV porn?

Just because they didn't have this back in the day doesn't mean that there isn't videotapes of you floating around somewhere. :p

I can promise you that there are! And I know about most of them! :cheeky: I grew up in New Orleans...Mardi Gras!! ;)
Anyway, I was thinking about the ways you could use a camera eye.
*shopping...You never have to guess, 'Is this the right color? Will it match?'
*school...You can sleep through boring lectures.
*accidents...You can prove it wasn't your fault!
*reading...Scan a book or article to read it later.
*vacations...You never have to lug around (or loose!) that bulky camera.
Now if you could playback what you see in that eye at will, I guess that would require hardwiring to the brain, the possibilities are endless.

How would you "zoom in" and actually "see" what's being viewed? I guess you'd have to walk around with a little computer screen that shows what your fake eye is looking at?
Zooming in should be easy enough as long as the lens is suitably miniaturised (you wouldn't want the zoom to poke out of the eye like you get with point and shoot cameras).
Seeing what the camera captures is handled by an interface directly from the camera to the optic nerve, which in turn transmits the electric signal to the brain. Anyone who's seen "Inner Space" will know that this is technically possible :cheeky:
Realistically, this type of technology is bound to be accepted by people who wouldn't need it because of any disability. If you could send visual and audio signals directly to the brain then you'd never need external video displays etc. Hell, you'd even be able to communicate with others in an almost telepathic way. One of the hurdles in doing any of this is finding a power source for the various devices, but this can be achieved using chemical or kinetic resources in the body itself.
Kinda scary when you think about it. My guess is that in the future society will be deeply divided between those who would resist this and those who accept it and look down on the 'lesser' humans who don't adopt technology.
This should really be in the Deus Ex forums. :tsktsk:
