Well I myself listen to a lot of metal and I'll say this. Folk Metal and some light Gothic Metal suits Thief like Subway to Sally which was a band mentioned by another member here before.

Actually, the music of Thief is more defined as "Dark Ambient/Atmospheric." It's a bit like a "subgenre" of industrial and gothic metal, methinks.

i wouldn't put it under industrial or gothic. ambient is firmly its own subgenre of electronica.
actually, you know the creepy tune that plays when you find the keeper library in THC? for some reason that reminds me a LOT of duke nukem 3d, specifically the first episode's secret level.
duke3d was silly, but it had some damn creepy music sometimes.

some of the other music that makes me kinda think of Thief is some of the music from Castlevania : SOTN, mainly the Cathedral and some of the more creepy parts. I love the music in SOTN, and the stuff you get from the cutscenes in Thief DP. Totally sweet. :cheeky:
