Some of the early Delerium albums, such as:
Faces, Forms, and Illusions
Morpheus
Syrophenikan
Stone Tower
Spiritual Archives
Euphoric
Spheres I & II
contain much "Dark Ambient" material. From the album Semantic Spaces onwards they were far more into Techno/Ambient. Still great, but not really "Thiefish" as their earlier albums were.

A thread about thiefsy music has to have Tristania in it somewhere ... so here it is.
Thiefsy highlights:On the album
Widow's Weeds:
track 1 - Preludium
track 6 - Angellore (just the intro)
track 8 - Wasteland's Caress (this intro would do great as ambient music in Thief)
track 9 - Postludium (used by Raetsel in the video for the FM "Masque of the Red Death")
On the album
Beyond the Veil:
track 3 - A Sequel of Decay (the choir bits)
track 4 - Opus Relinque (the intro and the other quiet parts)
track 7 - Simbelmynë
track 9 - Heretique (most of it)
On the album
World of Glass:
track 2 - Wormwood (the choir bits at the beginning and end)
track 10 - Crushed Dreams (the intro?)
And other bits I forgot.
On the album
Ashes:
Some bits here and there could be thiefsy.

Ah yes I forgot to mention Tristania
Very dark music, perfect for Thief especially the more electronic and gothic ones.

ooh ooh, i've got a couple.
ulver has a few songs that are very thiefy. some of their "new ulver" era songs have the kind of ambient feel of thief, and the lyrics often fit as well.
look up the album "lyckantropen themes". while it's totally lyricless and was actually a soundtrack for a short film (which i really would like to see) it has a thief feel to it throughout the whole album. at times i also get a strong deus ex vibe, too- it's almost dark and dystopian.
another one would be the song
gnosis, off the metamorphosis EP.

one more song, called
deamon painter, this one by arcturus (consider it a "sister" band to ulver, as they share a few members, past and present, including two vocalists)
(

Blind Guardian's album art sometimes reminds me of Thief. For example, take a look at the cover of their simply titled "Live" album (released in 2003), and you taffers will know what I mean.:p
Agreed.
Subway to Sally's Latin "Accingite vos" was used for the German thief2-version and StS are still one of my favorites. I don't like everything they do, but some of their's are great songs. I didn't find some version of Accingite vos you might listen to online, so I'll have to give you some other examples.
(Just
listen. ;) Didn't find any other files.)

The Batman Begins soundtracks make me think of the City in Thief.:thumb:

Either Cradle Of Filth Or Dimmu Borgir, possibly into eternity

I just saw the Blair Witch Project and the music (if you can all it that, it's mostly ambient-type stuff) you hear during the end credits totally reminded me of Thief. Probably primarily because it was ambient-type stuff, but it sure as hell worked.
