Here it is, early in the afternoon, and I would love to play. The problem is, the apartment I live in is full of windows and it is well lit in the daytime. This makes the game difficult to see, and outright kills any immersion while playing. I don't stay up until 2 AM much anymore, but perhaps I'll have to do this to enjoy the games, the way I used to.
How do you guys do it? Do you sleep during the daytime and play Thief at night? :) Where I used to live, we had those black-out blinds. It was great, because any time was Thief time! You could just make the room very dark, even when the sun was coming straight in, and enjoy the games.

I'm lucky and cursed in that department. I have my computer in a walk-in closet obviously without windows. That way I can make it as dark or as light as I want it. The only problem is there is close to no ventilation in here which makes it warm to sit in when the computer is on. Oh, and also I have this severe arachnophobia which makes it next to impossible for me to play certain parts of the game and it's not helping to sit in a room that is pitch black :P. Usually I get my girlfriend to play through those part while I watch from a safe distance.

When I lived with my parents I used to cover the windows with blankets when playing Thief. (and for about anything else ;))
Once, I tucked a blanket over the monitor and put it over my head. This is not recommended in the summer. Especially if there is no air conditioning. Yeah, I lived in an old farmhouse...
It does actually work, though.

I play almost every mission with increased Gamma. I know it might kill the atmosphere a bit, but I really dislike straining my eyes.

My room has two windows but I managed to pick up some Eclipse blackout curtains from Kmart.

I'll ask my grandma to knit one for me. Trying to play Thief on an LCD screen in daylight is instant eye-failure.

I used to do that, actually. When I was a kid and my room was being painted or something, the PC was in the most brightly lit room in the house, and if that wasn't enough it was middle of summer. So I used to cover my head and the monitor with a blanket.

The room where my computer is has 3 windows and 1 large bay window. In the summer and on sunny days when I load up Thief, I can't even see anything on the screen before 9 at night, and just looking at it hurts my brain.
