Greetings fellow Taffers and Sneaksie Manfools. Today, I would like to introduce you to my favourite gameplay style. Is it ghosting? No. Is it Rambo-mode? No. It's known as slow exploration.
My style is not restricted by any strict rules. But the stress is on an immersive exploration of Garrett's surroundings. I walk slowly. I look at the architecture. I stop for a while in order to watch the shimmering stars in the sky. I listen to the ambient sounds. I pay attention to all readables. I'm never in a hurry. Can you relate?
Here's a video I made to help you understand what I mean:

Oh, I can definitely relate!
The exploration part is always a big part of the fun and I don't like missions with only two readables or so.
I want a plot, even if it is not innovative - as it can always be made beautifully.
I want to immerse into the world the mission (pack) is creating, I want to find stuff that is only made for atmospheric reasons.
I want to watch down on the streets from above, I want to look into every nook and cranny.
I want to find a coin or ring in the drain or sewer, I slash every banner, look behind every bed and into the deepest holes.
The better the architecture, the more fun I have
In fact, the more I played the Thief series the more I began to love old architecture. Finding old buildings when on vacation is like finding a treasure.
I recently was in Vienna for example, living in a beautiful hotel and the downtown part is is definitely something that could come out of T2. I was having a ball there.
And if anything, nearly 20 years of thieving taught me patience:
Waiting for the right moment - sometimes a minute or so - to strike (blackjacking a guard, backstabbing a haunt).
This means I have time to soak up the vistas, the environment, especially if it is moody with fog, rain or snowfall and last but not least the sounds (a dog barking in the distance for example).

That about sums up my style of play,as well,I definitely don't ghost or lytha, but I also try avoid alerts, causing a ruckus and definitely killing.I am not afraid to use my blackjack because my main goal is the enjoy the mission its story and to explore all the areas and read the readables because I want to be absorbed into the mission and its world.

Can totally relate - I am a slow explorer too. I love looking high and low, behind and under. I like finding secrets, listening carefully, reading everything and just watching and waiting for the right moment to move on. I don't kill (unless made too) - even spiders and other beasties I try and sneak past. I don't blackjack (unless I really cannot progress beyond that point), as I like the chitchat and 'life' that the AIs bring to the world. I don't like to cause too much of a ruckus, though I do enjoy guards and such chasing me now and then, as their banter makes me laugh. So, yup, slow exploration is - for me - the only way to go in the world of Thief.
