Not really, I owned it and played it and found it to be wanting compared to other offerings out there. So my conclusion is valid.

That's interesting Fafhrd, my spec is very similar to yours, in power: Core2Duo E6600, 4GB ram, GeForce 8800 GTS and a P5NE motherboard, and yet you seem to be getting more out of it than me. I only run at 1680x1080.

What stops people from setting up their PCs like consoles?
Connecting a PC to a TV is as hard as connecting a console. Really, the only differences between the platforms, as far as gaming is concerned, are ease of use and exclusive games.
I have a PC only, and, if I'm playing King's Bounty, I use the PC screen, if I'm playing DMC4 I use the TV.

I don't tend to use AA or AF, which may account for some of it. I figure the combination of running at my display's native resolution and sitting about four feet away makes AA kind of pointless (and really, the whole point of anti-aliasing was to smooth the edges of low (like 800x600 low) resolution images. We're a bit past that now with our million+ pixel counts), and I've never really been able to see all that big a difference when running AF.

The reason Crysis failed is because its not a very good game and solely relies on its graphics. ... I owned it and played it and found it to be wanting compared to other offerings out there. So my conclusion is valid.
While you may not like the gameplay, there are a lot of relatively unique mechanics, obviously put there with the intention to make the game fun, which have nothing to do with the graphics.
So no, your conclusion is objectively invalid.

Let's see:
* shooting: nope

* invisibility: nope (see AvP)
* power-ups: nope (see almost every platform game ever)
