Hi There!
I'm playing Sharga's cool FM "Swamped" on Expert and have a question--I've gone into the 'forgotten city' type area where all the gates guard the scroll about Craymen, and I can't figure out how to get back out.
I've tried moving the rocks around onto different pedestals, but the stone doorway where I came in remains closed.
What am I doing wrong?
Check the ceiling in the center " caged" area. :)
Hello Nightwalker!
My first response to your post was, "Well, Duh!"
I'll have to go back and give it a look before my spackling dries. I've just ripped up a bathroom and am trying to put it all back together. Have to admit, sneaking around Craymen and Tree Beasts is a heck of a lot more fun! ;)
Just out of curiosity, I have the emerald, ruby, amethyst, and crystaline--have I simply overlooked the 5th jewel, or is it in some special place I haven't looked yet:
Is there another place besides the ruined city, the ruined tower, the tree village, the forest, the SHARGA place, and the underground tunnels? I think I've mentioned them all. I can't find anywhere left to go and wonder if maybe I simply overlooked the 5th jewel instead of it being in a "secret" place. I went ahead and finished the mission with just the 4 jewels, and the stats said I found both secret places.
Any gentle hints appreciated.

Hi,
You're missing the diamond. A hint to its location can be found in
the dead thief's journal in their hollow tree hideout.
Good luck!
My question is loot related. Are there any major caches? I've found over 1000 gp including
the loot on the beams in the emerald room and the pouch next to the dead thief in the hollow tree.
From their parchment fragments, I gather that the thieves were carrying quite a bit of loot (which may be a lot for them but not much by Garrett's standards) from their last job. Is it stashed someplace else?

The most I've ever been able to find is 1380, so you're pretty close. Did you find
the torc sitting on a windowsill inside the tower with the broken stairs? (Same tower where you find the ruby)
There's a tiara near a big spider, in a tunnel behind a secret door in the Keeper's house.
There's a gold bottle in the secret area that you can find in the village.
In the area where you found the Crystalline gem, there's a room to the right that has a fake red gem. If you climb up above it, there's a gold nugget worth 100g.
If that doesn't do it, let me know and I'll type out a full loot list. Maybe you found my missing 100! :)

Alxanth- yes, the place is mentioned in the journal although the diamond is not mentioned along with it. It's pretty easy to find though.
Norman Druart- good luck finding the loot. There isn't any secret stash for the thief group, although that would be a really good idea. To bad I didn't think of that. Nightwalker has listed some key places. I take it you've also got the loot from the gate maze. And don't forget there is some loot in the place where the diamond is:
the caves
I tried to spread little bits about evenly without placing it in areas that were too hard to find. For example there is no loot in the swamp water so no use looking. I don't think anyone has found all the loot. They have only been 100 short. I think this could be a bug or something since in the stats it says you can pickpocket and I'm sure there are no pickpocket loots in the mission. None of the purses are attached to the people. Oh, did you get the
pouch by the dead thief in the middle of the forest?
It's rather tricky to grab without getting caught.

Nightwalker - Thanks for the hints; alas, I already had all of those.
Sharga - I didn't have the
thief's pouch in Tree Beast town.
I made it a point to scoot through that area quickly without being too inquisitive. With that, my total is 1130 so I think I got all the big ticket items and simply missed a couple of silver nuggets and some minor items, perhaps in the Crayman areas.
Great job with this one! The environmental effect was very convincing and reminded me of the swamp section in Heretic II.
Oh, one last question. When I
mantled up the stone blocks to exit
the room next to the one with the crystaline, I came to a passage with a hole in the floor that if I jumped down, eventually lead to the
deserted village
. Across the hole, the passage seemed to continue. Is that a real passageway or just for show?
Telliamed on 16/6/2002 at 04:39
Just for show. Same with the gates down there.
Sharga on 16/6/2002 at 05:25
Yep, although I should have put something interesting in there for those that actually go into dromed when they can't get there in the game.
Same thing with the other gate in the Sharga secret, just a dead end made to look like the map goes on.

I just wanted to say that Swamped! was an excellent FM. It wasn't huge, but it wasn't a linear level, which made it more challenging, therefore making up for it's lack of size. I loved the Tree Monsters (I don't know what they're really called). I'd say they are my favourite enemy in the whole Thief series. They are so cool! I also liked the optional mission. It made it just that much more interesting.
So I commend the Author! Keep up the good work.
