It's an Nvidia Geforce 7100. It came included in the PC I bought. And yeah, they still sell 256mb cards in every store I've been to (though it is the lowest they sell now). But considering Thief 3 is supposed to run on 64mb cards,
in theory 256 mb should be more than enough :erg:
The card needs to support pixel shader 2 technology. Normally the 7 series does, but I'd double check since yours is the bottom-of-the-range card.

The number of megabytes in RAM alone doesn't guarantee performance, yours is an entry level card not designed for gaming. Go buy a gaming card and you will see much better results.
If you give us some idea about your system specs and budget we can recommend you a nice card :=)

Yeah, but there was no Thief fanbase before that.
This statement makes you a nobody when it comes to any serious/logical discussion from now on.
Loved the vids in commchat though.

I'm sorry, I don't get what you're trying to say. Either you didn't understand my very clear point (that when there's already a fanbase that fanbase should be considered by the developers), or you simply didn't want to. So I'm a nobody for giving my opinions right? Perhaps you'd care to explain that a bit more

Yes, it would have been better for immersion if the enforcers didn't slaughter the people walking the streets in the game. It also would have been better if the player wasn't able to hear their thoughts. Knowing that there are silent, shadows hunting you down and that none of the townsfolk would react to them would have made it much creepier. You would never know when they were going to attack.
Instead, it becomes a big quake deathmatch, where everyone is either fighting, or running and panicking.

Cool, thanks I'll have a look later

Hopefully your OEM did not rip you off and only provide a 180 or 200 watt power supply. Sadly, this happens with store-bought machines *ALL THE TIME*.

My PC is an Acer Aspire AX1800, with 220 watt supply, 4gb of ram, 600gb hard drive, Windows 7 x64. As for Pixel shader, I checked my card's specs and it's supposed to support Pixel Shader 3.0. I have a couple of PCI express ports free I think.
THe graphics in Thief DS look great, the only problem is it gets choppy if I set it higher than 800x600. Strangely enough, I installed the Quake 4 demo the other day (which is supposedly heavier than Thief DS) and with full resolution it runs smoother than Thief 3

Alright, thanks I'll look into it. I had no idea power supply wattage was that important
