The power supply is probably the most important part of the computer - if it dies, it can electrically fry all your hardware with it. If the CPU or Motherboard dies, you can just buy a replacement one. However you don't need to spend a fortune, just get a good PSU from someone like Antec, Arctic Power, Corsair etc. The wattage is less important, you just need >400W, which most will be if it's a good manufacturer.

My older Geforce 6800 required a 450W PSU, so it's better to give yourself a higher ceiling for upgrades later on down the road. Don't get a poor quality PSU, you'll regret it after it burns out a year later.

You can't go wrong with Seasonic. They couldn't make a shitty PSU if they tried. Most people haven't even heard of them because they're not into endorsements and all that shiny fluorescent gaming gear, but they're the ones that manufacture most of the high-end PSUs by brands like Corsair and Antec. They're also a good 2-3 years ahead of the competition (for example fanless PSUs, 80 plus Gold etc.). It's a shame most people prefer to have a "gaming brand" 1000W PSU instead of a high-end Seasonic PSU.
I'm sorry, since my (non-cheapo) PSU took the mainboard with it a few years ago I've found a new appreciation for all things PSU :p
Good PSU-specialised site btw: (

(and silentpcreview.com also does excellent tests on noise levels)
@New Horizon; true, but don't go too high, remember even efficient 80 plus PSUs are far less efficient at lower load. So if you're got a 850W PSU for a system that uses 10-40% of that, you're throwing a lot of energy away. Here's a good little site for calculating power usage:

Cons:
- Garret's clumsy movement (making it next to impossible to outrun opponents )
- The crooked bow aim, which takes a while to get used to when you're used to Thief 1 and 2
- The dagger. Initially, before I actually used it, I liked the idea of a dagger (a stealthy, assassin weapon). In practice, it proved to be totally useless (except against the Cradle staff - if you crouch and stab them you can kill them easy and they can't reach you, or for backstabs, but I'd rather use the blackjack for these). Using it against sword guards, Hammers, Zombies, Haunts, etc. in frontal combat was pretty much suicide 8 times out of 10 for me. I hope they bring back the sword in Thief 4. You're completely disadvantaged against your opponents who have more reach.
- Little or no possibility of successful frontal combat (due to the absence of the sword), except near the end, when you can blackjack Gamall's statues and destroy them.
- Game interface: I like to see what my health level is all the time, not just when I'm getting my butt kicked . Thief 1 and 2 had a great interface - I found Thief 3's to be problematic and hard to adjust to when you've been playing the other games for over 8 years.
- With the previous point in mind, another mistake was that the creators of Thief 3 tried to make the game appealing to the general market, instead of taking the Thief community into consideration.
-Clumsy movements:, What clumsy movement i did not notice it.
-Crooked bow aim:, ???? theres nothing wrong with it its just differrent than before thats all( OH but i want the same as before and cos its not im gonna complain about it). Well simple DONT play T3 then. This is a totaly pointless con. Its good that its differrent, doing the same thing again and again gets dull.
-Little or no possibility of successful frontal combat:, OH DEAR. Right you are not getting the point of this game at all are you. THIEF as in sneak about unseen, IT'S NOT DOOM run in the room and start blasting away. The hole point is to face the enermy as little as pos.
-Game interface: nothing wrong with it again, you do not need to see your health all the time theres not need to unless your doing your DOOM thing and running in to rooms and trying frontal attacks.
If you are to put post up like this with pro/con's make the cons good, these aint real cons about the game.
Oh thief DS loks dam good in 3D :D just so you all know.

Deadly Shadows: Loved by gamers with terrible grammar.

Lord Soth on 7/10/2010 at 22:23
Whats grammer got to do with Thief DS ??? other than nothing at all.
Goldmoon Dawn on 8/10/2010 at 00:32
Maybe terrible gramm(a)r, Deadly Shadow, and stupid people can often be directly linked?
lost_soul on 8/10/2010 at 01:24
Oh come on, there's bound to be at least one grammatical mistake *SOMEWHERE* in the game. :)
