Hmmm, I don't know about a name, but maybe it could be the long lost love child of G and Viktoria. :laff:

She was kidnapped from a noble family and held for ransom. She was a bastard child, and the kidnappers had no idea that she wasn't wanted, due to the heartless family's shame. So some time passed, without any expected response, and the kidnappers had no real intention of killing her, so considered selling her off.
It wasn't long before the kidnappers had to go into town and get food, make deals, connect, and so on, and they had the misfortune to be caught by the Hammerites and thrown in one of their prisons. The girl was left back at the kidnappers' pad, and she managed to escape. The 'nappers hadn't restrained her so much as scared her into staying put, but after a couple of days, she took a chance and found a way out the 'nappers hadn't thought of.
Within a week she fell in with a trio of street urchins, gained some street-wisdom, was too quick to pick up skills, and came up with better methods, all enough to arouse jealousy in the leader. So she left, knowing she certainly didn't need them for her own survival.
Too bad for her she won't be welcome in Thief 4, either.:(

It's clichéd and formulaic plot-weaving, is what it is.:p
I've never looked at the sources referenced.

So, I just jumped onto the forums today after having not visted since finishing Thief: DS. Firstly, has the sex of the child ever been clearly defined? Now I haven't seen the final scene in quite some time but I remember thinking it was ambiguous at best.
With that said, I would enjoy the game as either Garrett or a young protege. Though I have a hard time playing as female leads(some exceptions). Regardless, I think it would be a tradegy to ignore the story from the third game alltogether, Garrett being the one true keeper was in my opinion one of the greatest character development points in a video game. Too bad the gameplay wasn't up to par. So either way it goes I will be happy, but admittedly filling Garrett's shoes again would be a treat.

No one's ignoring the story from the games. It is, in fact, the story of the entire trilogy that prompts us to dismiss the child as anything but a bookend scene. You are ignoring the entire trilogy and holding to one moment as having more importance than everything else that came before. By not taking on an apprentice, by not being a father figure, there is no character-breaking, and Garrett's entire motivation for what he did in TDS is honored. Garrett must still be Garrett. Garrett finally got his wish to rid himself of the Keepers and their dogging and their Prophecies and manipulations. If that child erases everything that the trilogy was about, then the tragedy is that you dismissed everything BUT the child. And yeah, I've only counted about six people in all these years who don't see a girl when they look at her and hear her (Terri Brosius's) voice.

Lola!

Olga! And she has to be quite "top-heavy" for the game to sell well, and for her to look good beside the new and improved Cool Garrett in all of their MGS-style cutscenes.
