The only clue I can provide is when I first played T3, the part where the statues come to life made me say to myself "Wow, I can't believe they ripped off T2 FM Author............and the mission............."

There have been several FMs with statues that come to life. DrK's Rocksbourg: Ink and Dust is one of them.

This would have been prior to 2004, though. I don't know of any missions that old which have statues that come to life, but someone will probably know.

The statues were tall, white or gray stone, and they came off their pedestals and niches and sauntered around like tree beasts in a mansion with at least 3 floors. Scary, but they could be "killed" if they were snuck up on and blackjacked enough...

I'm thinking L'Arsene Part 4: The Den but it actually came out the year after Thief: Deadly Shadows. It definitely fits all of descriptors. Big mansion (it's a castle, actually) with at least 3 floors. Treebeast statues on pedestals that come alive.

Great campaign. Currently stuck on mission 2, but so far one of the best mansion break in i've played. Quite a delight to ghost.
