The community for NS1 was pretty tolerant of people who did not know what the fuck for the few years that I played it. I wish NS2 would get done already.

Really? Because I've been kickbanned for not knowing how to play -- in fact the treatment I suffered at the hands of the NS playerbase more or less ruined the game for me.

Well, I just always followed a group around until the victory tune played. Did you get into the comm chair and spam med packs across the map or something?

I never really ran into people kickbanning over not knowing how to play. I remember being really bad at the game, but not getting kicked over it.
Granted, I was maybe thirteen at the time, so my memory may just be bad. It's also possible I played it before or after dethtoll and the overall climate was either less elitist or less serious about it.
Well, I'm looking forward to this release. Whenever it happens.

I didn't really get the chance to play it until well into the decline of its relevance. By that time the playerbase had metastasized into an elitist mess, similar to that seen in Counter-Strike 1.6 (or Source, these days) or Battlefield 1942.
