I can think of some things - like explanation how can you make Painkiller'eque FPS in a fucking World War One setting.

Or maffia hitman with two heart devouring heads and impaling tentacles who can create black holes. Who cares WW1 is a hellish setting perfect for a fantasy-shooter a la Painkiller.

Here you go, hot off 1C's web site: "The year is 1916. Young American joins UK Army to experience an adventure of his life and soon realizes that greater evil is hiding beneath the Great War storm. He has to face the underground world of vampires, demons, evil genius creatures and even become one of the demons to rescue the human and vampire kind from forces of darkness."
But whatever. It's not like Painkiller's - and I hesitate to use the word - story made any sense either. Or Serious Sam's. Or Quake's. All you need's an excuse to shoot stuff up.
It's oldskool, babeh!

Or Nazi zombies.
Regardless, it is nice to see that some people occasionally remember that World War
II was thusly named on account of there having been another one before it.

I don't know a lot about the weapons in the first World War. All I know about is the early tanks, the stalemate in the trenches, and the early Flying Aces (Eddie Rickenbacher, The Red Baron). And of course, Kaiser Wilhelm of Austria. I should read up more on it.

Contrary to what you might have heard, Poland is not part of Russia yet.

My apologies, I didn't bother to read up much on the game nor developer, all I did was watch some videos on Youtube. I just presumed it was Russian based on the publisher. I'll change the thread title.
P.S. It does have a direct link to Painkiller after all.

NecroVisioN is a fast-paced shooter which will be exclusively released for PC this spring by Aspyr Media in North America and by 505 Games in Europe, under the 1C Company label. Developed by Polish developer The Farm 51, it mixes historical accuracy with a twisted plot and an alternate reality that sees gamers venturing into the very jaws of Hell itself to stop a zombie army and an evil demon overlord. Created by several of the original members of the PainKiller Team, NecroVisioN throws non-stop hordes of enemies at the player but gives them powerful weapons to fight off the invasion and save the world.
Perhaps they jumped ship after Epic bought People Can Fly? I can understand not wanting to work with tools like CliffyB and Mark Rein.

Painkiller's last level got in a little bit of World War I setting, and it worked.

[Darth Vader]Apology accepted, EvaUnit02[/Darth Vader]
By the way, the polish CD-Action magazine reviewed the game, and one of their main gripes was that it's not next-gen enough since it doesn't have auto-heal.
Grim times we live in.
