I've actually played Metro. If metro 2034 was out I would be very busy jizzing all over it.
What is this range mode you speak of? I see now that I look there was a DLC I never got, but what is it besides being more difficult or something?

Oh, you think? There's a reason why I linked that article on White Gold. Even BP's patch notes were golden.

Depending on how far back you want go. I'm a huge fangirl for Vampire Masquerade Bloodlines, rich story, dialogue, and more dialogue, did I mention the dialogue? Epic game.

It's very challenging and so much more immersive. Some people might not like it but I love this kind of stuff. From this wiki ((
http://metrovideogame.wikia.com/wiki/Difficulties) http://metrovideogame.wikia.com/wiki/Difficulties):

An ultimate challenge for the player. HUD is disabled completely save for laser pointers on mid to late-game weapons. Both Artyom and his enemies are glass cannons, killing and dying incredibly fast, up to the point of one hit - one kill. Stealth is advised, since the run-and-gun approach is severely limited by low ammo pickups ranging from one to two bullets in a batch.
I guess it's part of a DLC? I must have got some "complete" addition of the game because I never bought any DLC for it.

I highly recomend the Batman Arkham Asylum and Batman Arkham City. Both very well made games. The best Batman games to date IMO. Tons of things to do in both games. Even the challenges were well thought out.

Whoops, totally missed that.

On the "playing as the bad guy" end of things there is no game series (besides Dungeon Keeper) that I would recommend more than Overlord. I absolutely loved the 2 games in this series from start to finish.

I have to echo the Far Cry 2 suggestion. Be warned, while a lot more polished than STALKER it still has some incredibly annoying gameplay mechanics. Otherwise it's pretty good, though, and definitely captures the Heart of Darkness vibe perfectly.

Ranger Mode was added in a patch. Metro 2033 hasn't had any DLC.
