* Yeah, I just finished reading Tomshardwareguide's "best CPUs for the money November 2011" and I found the i3-2100 there.
* go with i5-2400 since the few hundred Mhz between 2500 and 2400 hardly make any difference.
* In simple terms its basically a dual core version of the i5.
* Yes and no, essentially the K means its got a HD3000 GPU and the GPU and CPU are both Multiplier & Voltage unlocked. With a slightly better cooler than stock these chip will hit 4.2ghz on just the multiplier alone.

Are HDDs back to normal prices yet?

No.

I too would like to know when prices drop. I'm helping a friend construct a new PC for a very low budget ($400-ish, not counting OS, and a price cut on HDs would help immensely.)

2012. Maybe early-ish, more probably later.

Bumpity Bump. Did you get a chance to make a more detailed list, Bikerdude? I'm flying back to the states tomorrow and I want to start buying soon so that I hopefully have a nice xmas present for myself this year :) Tho I'm still thinking if I there wouldnt be good post-xmas deals and if I should just suck it up and wait.
Oh and thanks again to everyone contributing to this thread!

Well I managed to snatch i5-2500K for $179 instead of $219, quite happy about that. The monitor and the case just arrived to day, and the rest of the components is on its merry way. Should be here in the next day or two.
In the meantime, I cleaned up and rearranged my room, put the case in its place to reserve the space, and hooked up the monitor to my laptop for some dual-screen multi-tasking goodness, yeee :D

Well my parts finally arrived YAY! I do not have time to assemble right now since I am about to go out with a bunch of friends. But tonight, it shall begin...
On a side note I am a little disappointed at NewEgg and UPS shipping. Had a few issues with it:
* The cushioning is just a bunch of flimsy brown papers. Wasnt even spread out evenly.
* The Mobo box was not plastic-wrapped like the card or power supply, so someone could have gotten into the box easily
* The HDD did not come in original box but just a brown cardboard box with stuff written in pen all over on the inside (?)
* The DVD drive didnt even come with a box, it was merely wrapped in bubble wrap.
* The UPS guy left the package at my door. He didnt even knock or ring the bell. Wtf?
* When I first opened the box a little man jumped out, called me a faggot in polish, and ran away. I think they accidentally sent me a koki instead of my ram sticks

All the hard drives I've ever bought came in anti-static bags with no box. DVD drives too. They're cheaper because they're OEM, apparently.
