I dig this idea, but is the latest multiplayer release stable enough for this? I thought it was still pretty buggy (maybe I'm working from old intel?)
For having tried it, I would say it's kinda playable. The only mission which had issues was
(it won't help us to like it better) Trace the Courrier which fails the mission if you steal more pickpocket than the goal is asking.
The only two general issues we had was actually :
- mantling doing the falling sound of the material underneath the other player like if they failed their jump,
- and the size of second player models not matching the size their first person controler has in their game.
For example : if there's a 2x2 path made of wood surrounded by tiles, when you'll walk on it and hear your steps making wooden noise, the other player will see your model having his feet exceeding the wooden path's width and thus playing a tile footstep noise instead, alerting then the surrounding AIs.
Imo, multiplayer would just need a few scripts/animation edits to fix these problems and it shall be fine.
But it's not that buggy and I admit having fun while playing it! It's just a pity they didn't implemented the custom skin feature the OldDark Multiplayer Mod was offering and chat. Even if it's overall way more stable!
Tho, the multiplayer mod provided by ND is made to work only for T2 vanilla. I have no idea how it would react to FMs with more or less scripted events, and for sure, it's definitely not compatible with TG.

New restriction: all missions must have a 10 minute minimum unskippable camvator.

also somewhere along camvator must be dewdrop hidden in it,requested by firemage :P
also the skybox for mission must be amazing,no boring black with minimal white dots for stars
and new mantle should be used in mission as it feels good to grab a ledge

Yes, Beltzer did it in the last "mission" of Lonmore, wich actually is a camvator.

I think that such a contest should differ from others in two conditions: a beautiful picture and the canonicity of the series. This can be an alternative to anniversary contests, but using any custom resources.
It might also make sense to limit the size of the map so creators don't drown in it.

I'm not sure whether we had a similarly themed contets already, but... what if we play with the "10 years" time gap between now and NewDark? Such as: The FM author should take something from one of the first three (or maybe four?) games and make a mission that deals with what happens ten years later because of the "something". Maybe some light is shed on Garrett's new life ten years after the end of Thief 3. Or maybe Brother Murus has need for Garrett's undead services again. Or Basso and Jenivere want to celebrate their 10 year anniversary after escaping from Lady Rumsford's clutches in Thief 2, but then something bad (possibly connected to Lady Rumsford) happens?
The idea here is the general rule that something from ten years before is to be continued, and the authors may come up with mission backgrounds like the ones described with detail here, not that the detailed descriptions I gave above are the rule for the contest. "The Lady Rumford aftermath contest" would be too restricted, I guess.
This could give the authors enough freedom if no useful ideas around the NewDark anniversary crop up.

One idea that was being tossed around was to remake an OM with the old dark limitations removed. Could be fun.
