No one has been updating Darkloader for a long time now. It is extremely unlikely that any one will do it in the future. Abandon all hope.:p

No, NewDarkloader is a completely new FM loader, although its author tries to make it fairly similar to Darkloader while maintaining compatibility to FMSel (FM-Selector), the FM loader shipped with NewDark.

Despite being the devloper of NewDarkLoader I'd like to point out that you'll probably find AngelLoader is better at satisfing your FM needs. NDL was created to be like FMSel with an interface like Darkloader. However, FMSel (and therefore NDL) requires a setup which is quite different. One copy is needed in each game's installation folder. And some people found it quite jarring that it requires the user to have FMs for T1 and T2 kept apart.
Darkloader allows them all to be in the same place, and will detect the correct game for each one, and AngelLoader also supports this. AL is also a standalone program, and Fen placed a higher priority on performance than I did with NDL. It really makes a difference for people who have a large number of FMs.

Darkloader will not detect T1 NewDark missions correctly and/or reliably. It could only tell original T1/T1 Gold missions from other missions. This is one of several reasons why I do not recommend using this old loader anymore.
The choice between FMSel and AngelLoader depends on what one prefers. AngelLoader is much more comfortable and has a lot of additional options when compared to FMSel. FMSel's requirements are lower, though; above all, it does not need a certain version of the .NET framework, AFAIK. At least in some special cases, that might be preferrable.
NDL was a good alternative to FMSel (and especially to Darkloader), but AngelLoader simply offers much more. Now, every FM loader with the word "Darkloader" in it may enter its well-earned retirement.;)
