Yeah and to be honest it should have been done months ago. I posted in the "Forums & TTLG Website Network" area about the FAQ, and Kolya suggested I just make a thread. Don't know why I never thought of that.
Anyway, the thread will need to be updated a lot. Right now the main focus is making sure all links actually work, and the formatting.

Yes, I saw your thread and his response. I expect that once all contributions and amendments and such like are in and included that it'll get it's own little sticky - or something. I've got some intermittent time at the moment so I'll click on a link every now and then. Well done!

One useful addition could be:
"I want to play Thief1 with all patches and enhancements, on a new OS. What do I need to do ?"
All the information is in the FAQ. It's just a pain to figure out what you need to do. And in what order. The answer could be a simple checklist.
- Install from CD
- Install official patches
- Create custom shortcut with affinity option
- Install texture packs
- Install models
- Install DDFix
- Change resolution
- Fix EAX
- Add more visual enhancments ? (Small objects pack).
- Anything else ?
It's been a few weeks since I re-installed Thief1. And I already forgot what I did exactly. A small list like this will help new players, or players returning to the game. The individual items in the list can be simple links to more elaborate descriptions (like to answers to other questions in the FAQ). But I think it will help getting people started. And maybe bring some structure in a FAQ, which is very unstructured by nature.
