But hey, bow upgrades, anyone? :D
Well, it seems the series has finally jumped the <s>shark</s> Alarus Extension.

So, choke arrow is like a gas arrow? And they couldn't call it gas arrow why exactly?
It could be like the moss arrow in TDS but don't let logic or thinking get in the of your ill conceived hyperbole.

Summer's right. It's equivalent to a gas arrow (see at around 8:03 here): (
http://youtu.be/wATczNszWu8?t=8m2s)
And there's a description page in the new Thief 101 video that says:
Quote:
"Choke Arrow: On impact, the barrel releases a noxious and suffocating gas that momentarily incapacitates the target, causing mild nausea and difficulty breathing."
I'd prefer it be called gas arrow, too. But they probably didn't want people thinking it was a gasoline arrow that you can make flammable puddles on the ground with; since there are sometimes flammable puddles on the ground.

Man, it's so implausible that Garrett would ever find a better bow, or improve his current one. That would NEVER happen in real life, the first thing you find is always the best, and there is no way to improve anything, ever.

I laughed at the bit where the narrator was talking about silent, non-lethal takedowns, all the while Garrett is pounding the crap out of the Guard's head in 3rd person.
:cheeky: Yep. I thought that same damn thing.

It looks alright actually. Shame about the neutered gameplay.
This thread keeps getting more and more funny! Yeah, too bad that the gameplay itself is cut off. Looks alright actually! lol

I'm sure they ruled out moss arrows from the start, because that would really mess up their contextual jumping thing.

Garrett already moves through levels pretty quickly and silently, moss arrows would just make moving around even easier. With Swoop and soft feet, he's able to do far more in the than he should, imo, based on gameplay videos. His shoes might be made of moss :)
You can get a "Moss Quiver" in the new game, as seen in the new Thief 101 trailer:
Quote:
"
Moss Quiver: An inner lining for a quiver fashioned from moss. It is said that any arrow placed within will make no noise on impact. Although hard to believe, this species of moss certainly has a reputation from the marshes it is found within. The marsh-dwellers are rumored to be silent killers due to the moss boots they wear. (Broadhead and Sawtooth arrows produce no sound on impact)"

Some sort of plague.
Ruthless baron with twist vision of progress. Machinery followed by old wizard man?
Topical 1% vs 99% stuff.
LOUD NOISES.
Reluctant hero...
...master thief. (STOP GAWKING AT YOUR LOOT! PUT THAT SHIT AWAY AND GTFO!)
Amnesia and guilt from the past? Wait, how does Garret, you, know this?
Wanted by the "Brutal Thief-taker General"? Buh?
Okay, guard with the giant *&%$!@# mace and shield looks like an awesome threat. Can we backport / implement that in Thief 2?
Perfect heist! Plan carefully! Cause a 4'x4'x8' crate to fall 12'-16' to the ground! Wait, that crate looks wooden. Let's just put a rope arrow in it.. oh wait.
Crowbar tool? Could be cool; something to get through various locked things that you can't pick at the cost of noise or chance of loud noise.
Utilizing the environment? Points! Doing it by basically reskinning explosive barrels? Eh....
Hands visible in FPS looks really dumb.
Graphically, the environment looks nice if rather uncolorful.
This swooping/dash move disturbs me for some reason. It's a combat roll but without the disorientation.
Broadhead AND sawtooth arrows? Already leaning toward being too combat oriented.
Why the zoom and arrow perspective?! God *&%$!@# trailers!
Now this gripe may be applicable to the original Thief games but max amount of specific arrows? Why not a max amount of arrows of any type you choose?
Man, Garrett just absolutely launched himself that 20' (7~m) to the ladder.
Garrett shoots a rope holding a bunch of boards. Cinematic kills... Uuuughhghghg.
Can kill or not at all. Hrm. Even in the originals, levels had a variety of difficulties. Casing the Joint wasn't ghosting but just being seen resulted in failure.
3rd person, cinematic, 1-button (I assume) takedowns NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO~
1st person hand animations are really distracting to me.
Hey look, bow upgrades....
Embersage Oil! For fire resistance! 1) Slathering oil on oneself seems like the opposite of what you should be doing. 2) How much fire is there going to be? Oh god, not burning escape scenes?! That's why they shows the city on fire!
Upgrade for reduced chance of being hit by arrows? No arrow physics (just chances to be hit) or lowered enemy accuracy?
New tools! *They show the rope arrow* Nnnngh~
Another new tool, looks like a ratchet. Now being a master thief, you'd think Garrett would already have it but then he does have amnesia....
Bullet time kung-fu!
Game-solving vision!
Garrett has some serious hoarding issues. How is he suppose to buy stuff if he never sells to his fence?
Zombies are crawling on the *&%$!@# walls!
Nnnegh. I can't take this shit.

Thief 3 already had a bow upgrade.
