Hi taffers, I'm new here but have long been a fan of the Thief series. Just got Thief 3 yesterday, only to find I can't play it. I did have a gut feeling it wouldn't work on my system.
Anyhow, I will pop in from time-to-time and share my comments and knowledge with you all.
I have a Thief webpage, not much, just a tribute thing really...

Welcome to the forum Garras. As for your T3 issue, have you checked out the (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75031) FAQ's. There might be a solution to your problem in the FAQ's. Any questions, post in the trouble shooting forum for help. The taffers around here are very helpful, and usually have a solution to your set problem.
Good luck! Have you played any fan missions yet? You should.

Hi there, yeah I have played probably about 50 T2 FMs, but only a couple of ones for T1/G. I never knew so many women played Thief, good lookin' (from what I can see) BrokenArts!
I am a bit of a flirt, so ladies... watch out! :ebil:
And don't anyone be playing the ole 'bow upgrade' trick on me. I know that you lot do it to newbies, and I know it doesn't exist!
As for T3, I have a laptop - and I read in an FAQ that it just won't run on laptops. Also, I don't have Pixel Shader support. :tsktsk:

Get a REAL PC for Thief. :p ;)

Well actually, I've never had a problem running T1 or T2 on my laptop, so I never 'needed' a 'real PC'. LOL.
It is a shame with T3 I think, I wish it could have been made using an upgraded Dark Engine. I really like that engine, it doesn't need a high spec and it hasn't ever crashed... not once!
I don't feel that the graphics in T3 really add to the experience, just, maybe the physics are a nice addition. It's a pity that you can't turn Pixel Shader support off, it's a bit lazy on the developers part really.

You've already played the best of the bunch. /me waits for the T3 supporters.....:p

Hey, welcome to the forum! I love your site's audio collection, but you definately need to add some Hammerite sayings, those were the best. Oh and I loved the "Sorry, sorry sorry sorry!" one, brought back old memories of me playing thief with my bro and sis and laughing about how you would say that if you saw this guy walk up to you (cover of thief2 box)

I also run on a laptop. Trust me on this one, if your laptop uses an LCD, buy a cheap CRT and hook it up and play thief on that. Sounds like a bit of a hassle but TRUST ME, it makes a world of difference.

Friend?
Everything in life happens for a reason. I believe this is such a case. Your computer misfortunes may have potentially spared you from something so traumatizing and deadly you may have never recovered. Hast thou seen the reviews for this game yet??? Things are not what I would call rosey in 'ol Thief land. You have the chance to turn back now. I personally recommend that you do so, as to prevent future scarring (it is too late for me). *sob* If only I had known....
However; since it looks like you have done little to no homework on the subject, if you absolutely *must* subject yourself to this experience thou shouldst arm thyself with knowledge of how to best protect thyself from the emotional woes of Deadly Shadow. Get in touch with New Horizon first and foremost. He would be more than happy to make sure that your first victimization goes as painlessly as possible, but friend, really. This is your last chance to turn back. Good luck. :ebil:
Hiya, welcome to TTLG!

Stop frightening other people, TDS had great images and there's enough stuff out there to make it more comfortable.
