I just wanted to drop a quick note to say I'm loving the podcast. It feels like sitting around with a bunch of friends talking about their nostalgia about this fantastic game.
I hope you eventually take a look at some TDM missions (or if you have already, I'm still catching up!).

Thank you, glad you enjoy it! TDM - I was planning an episode and already got into contact with some interesting people from that community but at that time there was this community split over bikerdude (who was one of my conatcts) etc. which made it a bit difficult to bring people from different camps together, and then I followed other things and then it didn't happen. Maybe in the future but for now it's not on the horizon

(Going from memory)
I love two things about it: I think the gimmick of finding someone that's doing rounds is lovely, as is the combination of ruins taken over by mechanists.
I like when gameplay aspects that are usually on the background are put foward. Most of the time patrols are a simple loop that is used to pinpoint one of the many moving minor dangers points (the guards) that you need to deal with. But with Brother Cavador, the patrol is made visible; you care about where he is, his loop is relevant to you at all points in the mission, instead of only when he's literally in front of you as it is with guards, and it's also literally highlited for you with little green lights. It kinda plays like a reverse Alien Isolation, as if you were the alien and also had the tracker.
Aesthetically, both the aspect of revising a map you already knew but changed, and that being old Precursor ruins taken over by Mechanists, I'm really atracted to. I love the philosophycal reading of the infinite hunger of industry (specially considering the protocapitalist vibes of the Mechanists) taking over even the literal ruins. Pure deleuzian deterritorialization. The virus of Modernity taking over not only the Medieval world of Thief but even their Antiquity. What are the Mechanists if not that.
Too bad the mission itself is a bore. You either knock out everyone as you go, having to hide every single body so that Cavador and his team don't find them while you're trying to get at them, or stay put like fifteen minutes waiting for them to appear, or you get to them quickly by blind luck; the location indicators never really served me. And in any case, dragging the guy is insufferable, either because you have to move at a snail's pace while dodging the guards you didn't knocked out before, or because you did knock them out before so it's boring as hell. A mission full of great ideas and a boring execution. 5/10 for me.
I wish both of these aspects, the highlighting of a gameplay aspect that's usually in the back, and the revisiting a map with changes (with deep aesthetical and philosophycal implications) were more explored in FMs. Can you guys think of any comparisons?
