I'm probably about 4 hours in, and it hasn't got much better. It still feels like you're being shuffled from one area to the next, constantly tied to the story. That sense of exploration and figuring things out is only barely there.
I guess the good news is that it's not due to limitations of the engine, just how they set the game up. Once I finish this off, I plan on tearing through the editor to see what I can do.
...and the first thing I'll do is see if I can turn off waypoint quest markers.

If you were a KS backer at one of the higher pledge tiers that included exclusive in-game backer abilities/perks, then you'll find your redeem code (
https://account.harebrained-schemes.com) here. You just copy-paste it into the "Reward Code Unlock" box in the game's Options menu.

The fact that the you only save at set checkpoints (done automatically) + can't go to inn's to rest/heal up is quite annoying.

Yeah that's pretty annoying. I wish it were done like the first two Fallouts where you can go wherever you please and there's more exploration but I could understand if they didn't have the budget for it. The rest is great so far. I'm loving the music.

Gotten stumped again. I'm on the Telestrain mission I've cleared the lobby area and taken out the turrets, now I'm supposed to hack the elevator, but combat won't end despite there being no enemies around and I can't interact with the elevator either.

Well I just finished off the main campaign. I thought one of the stretch goals that got met was for the game to continue on to a second city? And yet it only spanned Seattle. Odd.
[edit]Turns out that's going to be paid DLC. Gah.
Game could have used an extra chapter. Ended juuuuuust as my skills were getting good.
But on the overall whole I loved it. Was surprised that Joshua from the Genesis/Mega Drive game never made an appearance. Jake in comparison makes appearances all over the place. Real shame though that free roaming wasn't in the game. It's good that there are side quests, but there was only a couple.
And Jake offers to take you out on several big missions at the end of the game. God damn it. Maybe it's free DLC for later on? Better be.
So the 3 biggest mistakes made in development of this game was:
* No free roaming
* Can't manually save (yet when you die it gives you the option to load a save which I don't understand). Which gets REALLY annoying towards the end.
* Games pretty short despite what I recall being in the stretch goals. BUT there will be an absolute FLOOD of fan made content for this game very soon, so that's not a deal breaker. Main campaign for me lasted about 28 hours. Not mega short. The SNES game takes about 3-4 days give or take. Genesis one about a week-ish.
But it's Shadowrun. Fucking Shadowrun :). Honestly never thought I'd see the sequel come out. Even though it's only sort of the sequel. If they made a DLC where you played as Jake or Joshua then that would be.
And for the first time in a very long time I plan on sticking with a game and playing the majority of the extra missions/campaigns that people release for it.
Now to go play the SNES remake/reboot.

So I've played a few of the user created missions/campaigns, vast majority of which have no mention on them of the karma requirements leading to some trial and error. Of the ones released that I have played here's a few put into the categories that they should be in:
New characters (37+ karma) Imported Characters Not Allowed:
* Cutting My Teeth
* Jacked Up
* Shadowrun Crisis
* Simple Ransom
* SINless Silence
* Strike Hard, Run Fast
* Truth Lies in The Shadows
* Silver Angel, Seattle 2050
New characters (37+ karma) Imported Characters Allowed:
* Auspicious Eats - Quick and easy, combat focused run. Really enjoyed this one.
* A Lost Lamb - Good mission, quite fun. Best one I've played so far.
* A Milk Run - Decker/hacking mission. Quite good though very short. If your going to go decker I'd recommend playing this before the others since it gives you starting equipment + level 1 programs.
* Cutting Edge - Sets you up with a fair bit of cash at the stage and gives you access to a heap of various vendors to buy stuff. Set in a bar. No runs available so very little in the way of content. Incomplete.
* Jacked Up - Can only use a default character for it, can't import. Going to wait till you can.
* Mystery of the Communicators - Incomplete. Don't play this one.
* Shadowfall - Fallout 1/2 heavy influence. At demo stage.
* The Usual Suspects - Not bad. Has you breaking out of a lone star police station. Incomplete.
* Trivia Night Part 1 - Hilarious conversations, great story. Quick and simple run. Recommend this one.
150-200+ karma (end-game characters):
(don't even think about trying these with new characters, only use existing ones)
* A Dark and Stormy Night (Formerly known as A Late Night Call From Your Fixer) - Got my ass kicked trying this with a new character. Fun mission other than that. Could use some tweaking and made a bit easier. Hard mission.
* Lone Star: Double Indemnity - Some badly aligned textures. Other than that, not bad at all.
* Shadowrun Identity - Life on a Limb - This ones a real mess. Needs some serious work done to it.
* Underground Fight Club - Too high in level for my character so I didn't play it long. I'll play it later on when my karma is higher.
Varying (karma required depends on difficulty chosen):
* Stuffer Shack - I really enjoyed this one. Difficulty is spot on perfect. Good karma rewards. Good for characters of all karma levels.
I'll update this post as more are released and I get the chance to play them.

Thanks icemann, I figured I must be overlooking something obvious.
