is Return to the UNN a fan mission or the SHTUP untility?
WTF? :weird:

Hi,
I know it's been a while since I last posted in, was trying a couple of new mods on SS2 and crashed it ta Hell!
Took me a while but it's back up and running again:thumb: so I decided to reinstall Ponterbee Station Version 1, gave it a run through then did a few things to get Version Two working and all I can say is I never tire of this fan made mission! :D
This has probably been asked before but is there a Version 3 on the horizon? Every time you mod this there's more to it than ever before making it even more addictive (which is a good thing!:cheeky: ).
Anyway, enough babbling on, great fan mission. If I was to give it a score out of 10 I think I'd give it 20!:thumb:

Thank you :)
I have no plans for a Version 3, but there will be a sequel :D ;)

Lovely! I just finished SS2 and need a new experience.

Wowsa! Fabulous! :thumb:
Thank you Christine (and everybody) for the phenomenal amount of work you donated to bring us Ponterbee station!
K, I guess I'm not thinking clearly enough (or maybe just am not dedicated enough, sniff). I came late to the original SS2 party, and was fortunate that by that time a number of fan walkthrus / playguides had been created. I'm hoping something like that exists for Ponterbee, somewhere, so I can keep moving...!

Rather frustrating not having a map, but that's just more realism -- you've never been to this station before so how would you know your way around?? :p
Interesting not knowing what direction to go in once I cleared MedSci... (Polito / Shodan really does guide you in "what to do next" in the original even while she's a PITA.) Harking back to the original, I followed a hunch and went down to Engineering. (The ducks were hilarious!)
Just got to Deck 5 to look for the access card, but stopped dead cold. There's just too many tough metallic beasties requiring heavy firepower to kill! (I'm not skilled and brave enough to wade in close-and-personal with assassins just having a wrench.)
In SS2 I'd stock up on ammo via the shotgun hybrids and the ValuReps in MedSci, and down in Engineering, where I could buy frag grenades and AP bullets... but I can't find any of those around. Do such exist in these levels / in this FM? :grr:
I've arrived at Deck5 with roughly 6 AP and 2 frag to get thru. IMO this just ain't enough for me as a low level, slow, low-HP "insect / sack 'o flesh" to get very far.
Help!

Story nitpick... in SS2, "Polito" had a medic install the R45 military-grade jack in your head. (Oblig: if those jacks had been outlawed 40 years, why did the Von Braun med staff have them available, and know how to install??) In PonterBee you arrive already equipped with the same jack! It seems people's attitudes back on earth must've changed and decided it's OK for average military conscripts to be stock-modded sometime during basic / training... Whoops!! :cheeky: :joke:

1. Replicators
2. Autodocs

But this again begs the question. The medic knew the jack devices were outlawed 40+ years ago. From the log, he wasn't doing the job willingly, but because "Polito" had ordered him to do it; by implication it seemed he was doing the job himself, not an autodoc. (Autodocs wouldn't be programmed with outlawed procedures, eh? At least, not stock from the mfgr... though natch TriOp isn't really a Good Citizen. :ebil: )
I'd anticipate that "legitimate" med schools also wouldn't be teaching old outlawed procedures... so where/how did the medic get trained for the task, and why would he have one available at all -- especially if the Von Braun really wasn't expecting some sort of dire emergency to call for such drastic measures? (If jack jobs weren't taboo, wouldn't all the UNN soldiers aboard already have them? At minimum, senior military staff and maybe senior civ's?)
Reps would not have been stock-programmed to produce such "dangerous" outlawed contraband, right? Knowledge of how to make them wouldn't exactly be simple to come by since legitimate schools wouldn't be teaching it... and you'd think Polito would look odd for having such outlawed information... especially since she wasn't Med Staff. (Oh, wait! I know! Must be underground Internet forum boards preservign forbidden truth about the jacks! Ha! :tsktsk: )
[And of course in Ponterbee, you've just arrived from Earth, and weren't expecting any more trouble than papercuts from your stack of books... So why did you arrive jacked?]
But hey, I'm just nitpickin' ... :cheeky: :ebil:

The medic didn't do the job at all. He just took delivery of Goggles from a security bot and stuck him in a cryo-tube.

No, it would be a case of TriOp retaining the technical specs required to construct R-grade implants from the time of the Citadel debacle. Probably without telling the authorities that they had done so.

Maybe the 'plant in Ponterbee was not R-Grade?
