It looks fun to me. Hopefully a demo comes our way, or at least some of you suckers buy it at release and report your findings!

I can understand why some of the fans of the original games would take issue with this change, but as a newcomer to the IP I gotta say that trailer's got me
excited. It looked good. And for those around the net saying Starbreeze is ripping off DX3 - I
wish. All the action in the trailer looked pretty, but I'd really love it if there were something else beside it, if the game was more than just a straight-forward shooter with a couple of gimmicks. Because this looks like a setting I might like exploring a bit, maybe a few multi-path levels, a bunch of NPCs to talk to... you know, environments that make you feel like you're delving into functioning world, rather than traversing corridors purpose-built for shooting dudes in the face. But I guess odds are I'm gonna be disappointed in that respect, huh?

Not necessarily. All of Starbreeze's other shooters (Butcher Bay, Darkness, Dark Athena) had talky bits in between the shooting people in the face bits, so if Syndicate is designed along the same lines you might be in luck.

Oh, well colour me intrigued! Do you mean "talky bits" as in going back to the same hub in between missions and chatting up the same friendly NPCs, or do you mean something vaguely more DX-like, with not so clear delineations between areas where you talk to people and areas where you faceshoot people?
Thanks, dude! :D

Riddick: EfBB and The Darkness did indeed have world hubs populated by NPCs, administering subquests and adding flavour to the world. But then again the Starbreeze that made those games is different to the one which exists today, so who knows?
@Ostriig
You haven't played Riddick? Fix that immediately.

(
http://www.gametrailers.com/episode/gametrailers-tv/134?ch=1) GameTrailers TV intervew with one of the producers of the game. (skip to 10:50) The gameplay footage is mostly the same scenes we saw in the trailer except in first person. Still there are some interesting things. The persuadetron seems to be fully in place, allowing you to
convince enemies to fight for you. And you can hack turrets from far away, somehow.

Don't forget 'the little hack-n-slash that could', (

Yeah, please do. Even if you have to settle for the remake add-on in Dark Athena, do it. Either ver. should be dirt cheap. Hell, there is even an original Xbox ver. of it, if you have one of those systems.

Cheers. :thimb: To be honest the music was the best thing in the trailer. All the rest was FLASHY THIS AND PEW PEW THAT. The music made me feel like i should play it. IT TAUNTED ME because this is just not Syndicate, chaps.

I loved the original Syndicate, it's one of my all-time favourites, but I don't really mind that the new Syndicate is going to be a 1st/3rd person shooter. In fact I'd be a bit disappointed if they had decided to make some kind of a light real-time strategy kind of a game, even if it might be more faithful to the original. Anyway, it's not the camera angle that made Syndicate so good, it was the atmosphere. If they get that nailed on in the new Syndicate, it could turn out to be a really good game.
Someone mentioned SWAT 4 in this thread earlier, and I could totally see that kind of an interface working in Syndicate. Oh god, that could be awesome actually.
I thought that the trailer looked pretty good, at least it got me a bit excited about the game, which isn't that common these days. It just needs more miniguns, more explosions, and burning people who run around screaming. :cool:
