:) I couldn't remember whether that was the case for sure. I'm sure in first person perspective it would be a very strange experience.

LOL at Al_B. Ah memories... Those modern cars in syndicate were able to accomodate an amazing number of people. There was always one yellow dot that was vainly chasing after the car from the other side of the map though...
Again, basically with icemann on one way that Syndicate could have been modernised. A GTA style game, where you have a corporate hub as your base, and you launch missions from here for territory and personnel aquisition, technology raids, and "combat sweeps".
You have vehicles, possibly team members (either autonomous or under some degree of control), basic 3rd person shooter mechanics (where there is the ability to set your guy on overwatch, so he can respond automatically to threats within a certain range), upgradeable skills and augs etc. You could then set a lot of the game outside, in the neon/cyberpunk/dystopianfuture streets of whatever city is the current mission focus.
I think this basic approach would be 'truer' to a syndicate game. It may not make for a better game, but I'd be more interested in playing it.

soz - double post.

And that description is exactly what I was envisioning. Not a fps game. However if they had done both games (as in the GTA style one + the fps one) I wouldn't mind at all.

I was posting on the starbreeze forums re project redlime (which was the rumoured codename for Syndicate Redux), and canvassed this topic a fair bit. I thought that this basic genre would also allow for pretty decent narrative, which was never a strong point in previous syndicate games, but would be something that could add to the game.
For me, one of the overwhelming aspects on the first syndicates was that it had style (for its time). It was a cool game. GTA games also have that cool factor (in a lightweight elmore leonard kinda way, especially the one set in miami). That was another reason why I thought it would be a good marriage of genre and brand. Alas, not to be...

Fallout 3 feels like a Fallout game.
they crammed enough FO intellectual property into the game to make sure you didnt forget they bought the name.

Fallout 3 may feel like a Fallout game at the surface level. But does it stand up to the Fallout games? How about a big ol' serving of nooooooooope with your corn grits, suh?
Still fun though.

May. But doesn't, actually.
