"But I don't think it necessarily has to be exactly the same genre. If we did there are probably other platforms which are more suitable for it than the consoles we're making it for, if we wanted to go in that more strategic route, that perspective."
Grrr. Consoles get too much of the decision making made for them these days. And there you have it as to the likely reason they went with FPS in the first place.

Syndicate the turn based strategy facebook game ? only half joking...

That link says the exact same thing as Gunsmoke's from the other day.

Surely the fact that Starbreeze have a pedigree for First Person view games would've been a huge factor as well?
I've always expected a FPS since learning that Starbreeze was attached two years ago or so.

Definitely. As soon as Starbreeze was announced as the company heading up the game, the fact that it was going to be a FPS was no surprise.

Is anyone else really underwhelmed by this trailer?
What's up with video embedding? Here's the URL anyway: (

Edit - thanks, I was just using the add video function on the forums, didn't think to use the embed link from youtube itself

Use 'old embed code' from youtube

“Combatants take locational damage and can be explicitly dismembered, decapitated or bisected by the force of the gunfire. The depictions are accompanied by copious bloodspray and injuries are shown realistically and with detail. Flesh and bone are often exposed while arterial sprays of blood continue to spirt from wounds at regular intervals,” the report states, discussing an example mission.
Soldier of Fortune, is that you?

Ugh, another Cyberpunk "FIGHT THE SYSTEM" cliched plot. Why? Here I was hoping that they'd do something daring like have the protagonist remain a puppet for his dystopian masters for the entire narrative.

Ugh. Shot of protagonist about to do something, saying "showtime". How do writers allow themselves to be that hackneyed?
