Spoken from someone who does judge games by videos

So at the cost of possibly looking like a fool, I'm leaning more towards a yes than a no as I would have bought it under a different name. And I'd prefer to pay and possibly hate it, than judge it completely off videos. As much as the videos make me angry every time I watch them.
Getting angry over the fact that they're using the Syndicate name to sell this new game is irrational, TBH. Legacy being pissed upon? The old games are still there, just play them. A spin-off wouldn't automatically devalue the quality of the classic titles.
The Syndicate franchise had truly been dead for a LONG time. Think of the potential that could come from the renewed interest and potential profitability this game could bring. I.e. Firaxis' Xcom: Enemy Unknown probably wouldn't exist if it wasn't for 2K Canberra's FPS.
A new Syndicate strategy game wouldn't have to be a zillion dollar AAA full retail title either. Someone could make a faithful game on a more sensible budget and release it via digital distribution.

Yeah, I'm definitely interested in both new X-Com games. Never having played the originals when they were new, they're pretty aggressively inaccessible to me now. A shame -- I liked the premise of the 2nd one.

I had no problem playing UFO Defence properly the other month for the first time in like a decade. Hardly inaccessible and I don't like many strategy games for the most part.

There is a threshold when naivety becomes plain stupidity, you know.
Wait, I think I already used that quip before

Whch doesn't have a Syndicate name, and thus is not elligible for your popularity theory.

Honest reply icemann - to my original question about whether to buy it or not.
I'm pretty much of the same opinion. I'm gonna try the demo, see what its like. I'm hoping that its a victory of style over substance that will hold the fort until firaxis redo XCOM properly...

My previous reply was addressing specifically what you had quoted. It implies that games in general were the subject, not Syndicate specifically.

We all know that it's been proven that niche audience games can potentially make very good money via digital distribution. My argument was on the opposite end of the spectrum to both naivety and stupidity and you know it.
