New Taffer recommendations. - by BrokenArts

For new taffers I would opt for small missions; not too complex, large or demanding; atmospheric but easy to get into.
My recommendations:
The Cell Next Door (by Francine),
The Royal Garmyth (by Hidden in Shadows),
Sir William's Keep (by Wille),
Into the Maelstrom (by Morrgan)
Deceptive Perception (William the Taffer)
Those last two may not be for the faint hearted

Gotta agree with Galaer here. Calendra's Legacy is even worse that Ominous Bequest for new players. It was one of the very first FMs I played, and it nearly made me not want to continue with fan content. :D I appreciate it more now, but it didn't make a good first impression.

That would be awesome. I know that in of itself is a daunting task. There are so many FM's now, I know lists are compiled, and being compiled for various reasons. It would be great to have one overall list, you sure you want to take that on? lol Get help if you do.
Unironically I was considering making an ontology of fan missions as a practice exercise but this actually seems like it might be useful. I thought just categorizing by year would be interesting but of course that isn't helpful whatsoever in a practical sense, better to have stuff like "has undead," "highly rated/downloaded" "part 2 of x series" etc

If I'm not too late on answering this, I'd bring a few examples, that come into my mind and probably not the most mainstream mission:
- All for a Night's Sleep is relatively small, not very difficult but an enjoyable mission (it was the first FM I ever played and feels like a good starter)
- Unmasked is also close to LotP experience
- The Tower from Lady Rowena (it's relatively small compared to the Seven Sisters or Rowena's Curse, but brings an equally good time playing it)
Of Thief 1/Thief Gold:
- Order of the Vine is also a classic and if I remember well, not overly difficult (perhaps this one is the closest to mainstream category)
- Hush Hush Sweet Harlot is a nice city mission too without much that could discourage a new player in my opinion

Hmm, I'll go with some I played when I was still getting into FM's:
Calendra's Cistern (v2.0)
Autumn in Lampfire Hills (v2)
Circle of Stone and Shadow 1: Gathering at the Inn
These aren't too hard for a beginner I feel and should be a good starting off point.

The first ever FM I played was Bloodmist Tower, bit dodgy graphics wise but still a great mission after all these years.

Anything by Sensut or Gaetane. The Black Frog was my first FM I played though, so I may be a bit biased :cheeky:
