I just finished this mission today and I must say its very cute and enjoyable. The atmosphere is great, reminding of The Dark Project and expecially The Sword mission. Was really a fun evening playing it! I did not find the mission that small there are a lot of buildings to explore in the city around the mansion we must visit. Also the mansion is not that small. It took me about an hour and a few minutes to complete.
I must say you are very good of creating Thief The Dark Project atmosphere. Keep up the good work and keep making missions!
My rating for this mission is 9/10. Recommended.

Enjoyed this but had a lot of problems on the roofs. Should I have been on the roofs? It was like they were iced over - I've been on much steeper ones (both in real life while roofing and in Thief) without getting stuck in corners or sliding off.
Also, I found keys for the library and the inn but didn't need them. Was that correct?
Thanks for creating the mission and well done on your first effort.

Plumph - Roof tiling by default is slippery, I didn't change that, I didn't really have the rooftops in mind as a playable space, either. The Library Key opens up a small study in the City area, but it's possible and very much intended to be able to enter the study without the need for the key. , there's a library in the mansion, but is not connected to the key.
As for the Inn, The Inn Cellar Key can be made redundant if you happen to find and pick the cellar door beforehand. It was intentional as I didn't want to punish the player right off the bat in case the landlady was alerted to your presence, which would mean you'd have to wait a couple minutes for her to calm down before the pickpocket attempt would be succesful , and i'm glad you enjoyed!

That explains a lot, Plib! It was my fault as I didn't even check if I'd got a rope arrow or not so managed to get everywhere off the rooftops - except for the small library as I could find no way of accessing that window.
I've finished with just short of 600 loot so I'll have another look around.
Thanks!

No worries , you're given three rope arrows to play with at the start of the mission, they're on the table next to your blackjack and health potions. My next FM will incorporate verticality and rooftop style gameplay a lot more :)

Great work, Plibb! Fantastic first mission. Your fine eye for environmental detail and knack for creating architectural homages to the Dark Project are top-tier. And in a long lineage of mansion missions over the decades inspired by The Sword, you cooked up a wide variety of little architectural, conceptual, and style twists on the format that I've never seen before: lots of unique surreal details to be found. Every room told a story and every space had a purpose. Very enjoyable and VERY Dark-Project-y, and as a Dark Project preferer, myself, I loved every moment of it. Cheers!!

I really loved this FM! It took me just under an hour to finish. I didn't find it particularly challenging & thought the readables/story were a little lacking in depth (not a problem at all in a mission of this length imo), but that was more than made up for in how charming it was. I'm very partial to The Sword-style bizarre Pagan architecture and I found the mansion delightful. Such fun brushwork, use of textures, & attention to detail! I thought the mansion itself was a very good, efficient use of space- none of the rooms felt unnecessary and none of the space felt wasted, while still not being overall too tight and cramped that I couldn't maneuver around in non-obvious ways, & without feeling like just a beeline for the main objective. It felt like a proper Dark Project homage. I really hope you keep making FMs, this is a great debut & the level design + visuals already on display here are very very promising and fun. I can't wait to see what you come out with next :)
