I use Gentoo; I was actually thinking about contributing ebuilds for Thief 1, 2, Darkloader, and SS 2, so that it'd be as simple as typing "emerge thief2" and putting your CDs in when it asks for them.
Oooh, that would be great! :sly:

I think it's doable; I could write a script to create the Thief directory structure and copy the files to the right places. Checking for an exisiting, up to date copy of Wine or Cedega and installing that if it's not there is also easy.
The only step after that is adding some per-game settings to the wine config file to fix a few glitches with the menus that happen with default settings. And a script to setup the indeo codec.
Now that KDE and Gnome both use freedesktop.org compatible menu systems, adding entries to your Games menu is also pretty easy.
The only real issue is that I don't know if Gentoo will accept an ebuild for Windows software - even if they didn't, it wouldn't prevent you from using the ebuild, just make it less automatic.

Ok I just downloaded the new icons...they are bigger than previous for sure (and look great as always), yet not matching with the scale of Win XP icons. But as you clarified, it seems difficult to make the OS incorporate any bigger size than this...so this will do then. Thanks and keep it up :thumb:

Hm. On my machine, they pretty much perfectly matched the size of Windows XP icons; see the Windows screenshot at the first post.
Are yours smaller than that?

If I may make another suggestion for one more Deus Ex 2 icon.
The first thing I noticed about the official DSX2 icon was that it didn't fit the overall representative theme of the game. It's funny because it immediately occured to me that the proper icon should've been the lanky profile of a hunter mech (hope I got the name right) in an ocean blue hue.
What do you think?
-ps (
http://ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=95740) I've also posted this in another forum, which may be of great interest to some of you.
The ones available now are very nice btw.

I'm not sure. I agree that the official icon for DX2 was just plain bad; it was pretty obvious that they just needed an icon, so they grabbed the closest thing they had (the health leech biomod).
I'll think about the mech idea tomorrow; I actually kinda like the eye, but I'm thinking about redoing the bars on the side, so that it looks more like the interface for the game.
For now, though, it's bedtime :)

It (the blue TDS icon) looks (
http://img116.echo.cx/my.php?image=dt20wp.png) just a bit small compared to other icons on my DT. Technically perhaps its same size that of other icons, but somehow it
appears to be small (compared to My Computer and My Documents icons, especially)...but hey, its nothing an issue and I am more than satisfied with the present look, so let that be.

Yep, they are small indeed. Just a bit smaller than the other icons on my desktop. Nothing serious.

The icons do indeed look really good.
However, i'm more interested in your experience with Thief and System Shock 2 on Linux with Cedega, you say that cutscenes work now. How did you get these to work? Which version of Cedega did you use? I ask this, because I have not been able to get the cutscenes to work. The game works pretty much flawless aside from that.
Here's a (
http://digital-conquest.ath.cx/wiki/) shameless plug to my games database which holds a lot of data gathered by me and other Cedega users. You'll see that I added (
http://digital-conquest.ath.cx/wiki/index.php/Special:Search?search=Thief) Thief & (
http://digital-conquest.ath.cx/wiki/index.php/System_Shock_2) System Shock 2 already. But that one of the issues is that the cutscenes do not work. (Not for me, and pretty much every other person i've talked to.)
You're more than welcome to contribue info to this database and also feel free to put your icons on there. There are a few games that have new icons already. :)

No, sadly; I had to do it trial by error. However, I'm willing to write one up once I'm sure it'll work on other setups. As is, the menus are perfect, in-game is great, and it seems to play the cinemas about 3 out of 4 times - about like Windows XP :). Once I figure the thing with the cinemas out, I'll attempt a writup. That goes for both Thief games and SS2.

Dammit - I use FC3. I get a page fault - read error on startup - this is both with cvscedega and with cedega 4.2, binary.
Unfortunately, information seems remarkably slim - I doubt my problem will have a fix any time soon :(
