If you're willing to do more icons, might I suggest to make one for Clive Barker's Undying? That game had some serious style.

I was surprised to not see one for Arx.
They are really cool, though, Kerrie. Nice work. Would you be interested at all in giving a few pointers on how to make 'em (or maybe giving a website with a little tutorial or anything)?

It's not a secret spell, Drunken Phu. Just learn how to use Photoshop, Fireworks or other graphic programs.

Actually, I use the Gimp. Or if I need to do SVG icons (wouldn't really look right for Thief :) ) I use Inkscape.
Both are freely available, and Gimp 2.2.3 and higher work really well on Windows.
You can download The Gimp (
http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html) here.
As far as how I make them - only real pointers I can give are always to work in a higher resolution than you need, and keep separate elements on separate layers. In the first post is a picture of the Gimp with the Thief I icon open; you cee see what I mean by Layers there if you're not familiar with graphics editing.
After you've got the images done, you'll need a way to convert them to .ICO files - there are a few good Photoshop plugins for that, and Axialis makes a standalone piece of software that does a decent job, too.

Dammit - I use FC3. I get a page fault - read error on startup - this is both with cvscedega and with cedega 4.2, binary.
I had the game (with videos) running with Cedega 4.3 as well as on a patched, CVS version of Wine from WineHQ.
System Shock 2 tried to install the indeo codec and succeeded; the wiki says it should fail, but it didn't on my machine, and I got videos in Shock2 no problem. If that fails, you can manually run the indeo codec installer with wine and install them that way.
The only issue I'm still working on is that some graphics cards only provide video Acceleration in 32-bit color - which means Thief and SSock will default to software acceleration, as they run in 16-bit. I need to find, if possible, a way to force Wine to use 32-bit color for perfect compatibility across the board.

Awesome work, Kerrle, and you show good humor in the presence of a demanding fanboyism (of which I am one). Using GIMP to create them makes it even cooler. Are there any good Inkscape tutorials on the web you'd recommend? How do you accomplish the shadowing avoid rough edges on the icons? Some kind of alpha blending?
And Zylon Bane is awesome and often right, and some people can't handle that.

I don’t see any reason why you would be terribly eager to support the devil, otherwise.
He's the DEVIL you say? Then that explains this flier I got in my email the other day...
Inline Image:
http://users.chartertn.net/greymatt/ZBarmy.jpgGood thing I didn't join, I'm not a big fan of the Devil.
Based on this bit of info, though...I'd say he's planning something big here in the next few. I'd start watching my spelling and punctuation if I were you.

Hey, Renzatic - not to single you out, but could we maybe keep this stuff out of this particular thread? Not a big deal, but really, this isn't the right place to determing the faults of various TTLG'ers.
To DoctorfrogThere are actually some tutorials shipped with the version I have, under Help -> Tutorials. I haven't used the Windows port, but I've heard it's good.
If you're familiar with vector graphics programs, you should be able to jump right in. I had my first decent icon done in about an hour.

Eh, you're right...this is probably the last place I should be hijacking a thread to egg on Aditya. I'll take it elsewhere. ;)
Oh, and despite the fact that I haven't mentioned it before, I think the icons are excellent.
