Quite freaky when you consider that the original series mentioned a time jump to 2015 if I remember right.

Needs a crossover with Lost.

Needs nothing to do with Lost! :p
Really interested to see what they'll do with this. Kyle Maclachlan's coming back for it. I wonder if they'll get any of the other characters back or go with a new cast of weirdos. I also wonder if this is going to have a firm resolution of any kind. You'd think they might tie it all off at the end, but then... it's David Lynch so who knows.

I hope so. So much stuff was left unresolved at the end of the 2nd season.

I remember Season 1 and was completely engrossed but I don't remember the 2nd season so maybe I missed it somehow. I guess I've got a year to rewatch it all and catch up. (

The first season was the best bit. The first bit of the second season was very good also (until the murder resolution - at that point for my money they should have ended it). Around eps 17-21 or so are really bad and aimless with some spectacularly lame sub plots, it truly becomes a parody of itself. (Lynch was off filming Wild at Heart so wasn't keeping a close eye on it, not sure what Frost was up to).
The Wyndham Earle run towards the end is actually pretty entertaining for mine, but despite this never really recaptures the magic of the first season. But the finale is brilliant, although a kick in the balls at the same time (the final scene). You really can see the difference between a Lynch directed episode and the others though. So it's great that he is directing all the new eps. Despite that as a big fan I must confess I'm worried they won't be able to recapture the magic and overall they shouldn't go back to it. The promise to reveal all the secrets sounds horrible to me. Never explain a mystery.
The silver lining to that is it really can't be any worse than Eps 17-21 were (Little Nicky and the femme fatale subplot etc..shudder..)
A huge part of what made it great was the cast though..think of Ben and Jerry Horne, Catherine and Pete, Dr Jacoby, Hawk, Major Briggs, Albert, Audrey, Andy and Lucy etc..they'll be doing very well to recreate an ensemble cast half as good again. Hiring the same actors 25 years on could be quite depressing e.g. Lara Flynn Boyle could play the Joker this time around..(ooh..that was cruel..)

The very final episode's sequence in the Black Lodge is one of my favourite bits in all of the series. Jimmy Scott singing "Sycamore Trees"... Shudder. So masterfully mournful.

There's an interview where Lynch says he begged the network not to solve the murder since the mystery was the goose laying the golden eggs, and true to his prediction the show suffered when they insisted.
It's been so long since I watched it that I hardly even remember what was going on. I'm not sure if I knew even when I was watching it. So I don't have a strong opinion about a ... whatever you'd call this. A continuation? I like surreal film making, although Lynch has been hit or miss with me, but I usually got what he was doing and appreciated it for what it is.

I was lucky enough to do my first complete through of seasons 1 and 2 this year, so this all has had a much bigger impact for me. Watched the horrible movie also. Meh.
But much like what zacharias said, I worry about the magic of what made the show being lost, but I'm willing to give it a chance. Quite liked the show overall as it certainly has a very unique style to it that I've not seen in other shows. Music wasn't half bad either.
The season finale for season 2 was excellent.

I must be only one of three people who thought Fire Walk With Me was pretty decent. It had a heavier helping of David Lynch style surrealism than the TV show, but it was still grounded enough you could still enjoy it for the story. I wouldn't say it's the best thing he's ever done, but it was still good.
Plus Sheryl Lee's boobs. Comeon.
