I bought New Vegas Ultimate Edition a few months ago. When I went to install it I had to install steam, and set up an account, typed in the key and all that. It didnt install from the disk, it did a Steam install. I've since wiped out the pc and installed win 7, but now I can't find the case. I have the disk. Will steam have record of my account and be able to retrieve the key or am I going to have to fork over another 20 bucks?
Got it working. Thanks.
I was only 8 hours into it, but I waste so much time doing nothing.

It's tied to your Steam account so all you will have to do is log back in.

Welcome to the awesomeness that is Steam. When it started becoming big, all these people were saying that they wanted their physical media because they'd be sure to have it later. But I've got all this physical media that's either missing, hopelessly obsolete, or otherwise doesn't work, but my Steam games all function without much fuss...

RE: Pyrian's argument. For sure man, I love all of the disc check DRM on older games like a ton of SecuROM/SafeDisc implementations that won't work on versions of Windows newer than XP and the like.

These days there's very few games that don't require Steam. And the ones that don't, I get on Steam anyway.
