"It wasn't an add-on, it was the standalone sequel to Wolf3D."
Hey... you call it a sequel, I call it a stand alone mission or add-on pack. Sort of like what Blue Shift is to Half-Life.

Don't worry, Nedan. You're right. Everyone knows that.

How is a stand alone product an "add-on" if it doesn't add on to something? :p
From the official Wolfenstein support page:
"Somewhere around September of 1992, FormGen Corp released Spear of Destiny. This is a retail sequel to Wolfenstein 3D."
So there! :p

Considering Hitler is alive and well in the most recent sequel I have a VERY hard time believing that its set after Wolf3d.

RTCW is a remake of Wolf3D.

Mission pack, expansion pack... call it what you want.
Personally, I'd love to hear you explain Half-Life: Blue Shift. Better yet, I'll bet you're one of those few people that also felt the stand alone product Final Doom (it did not require any previous games to install after all) was actually the official Doom 3 & id Software just made an incredibly stupid mistake by calling this new game Doom 3 instead of Doom 4. Am I right?
"So there! :p"
Acting childish now? Do I really need to add another rolling eyes smilie here?
Look, I know what it says on the web page... & quite frankly I don't give a darn. IMHO, what Spear of Destiny is to Wolfenstein 3D is exactly what Final Doom is to Doom 2.

I suppose you missed the :p - I was being playful and not serious. Geez, wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning? If it came across as aggressive or argumentative then I apologise, but I'd hope people know me well enough by now to know that I wouldn't use "so there! :p" as a serious argument.

No, but Spear of Destiny was created, advertised and priced as the retail sequel to Wolfenstein 3D and was labeled as such by every magazine and review of the game. It was billed as the sequel to Wolf3D and so when someone asks what it is then I say it was the sequel to Wolf3D... *shrug*
If you want to disagree and not call it a sequel then that's cool, heck I actually agree that it played more like a mission pack with enhanced graphics than a real sequel: I only made the original response to the issue as it seemed that you might think it was a non-standalone that adds on directly to the original product and I thought that you may be confused with the "Spear of Destiny Add-on Pack" that was later released (my next post may have come across as me being an ass about it but it was meant playfully). Seems our definition of add-on just differs, no big deal.
