"Denial and ignorance. A deadly combination."
Worthlessness & annoyance. A troll-ish combination. <--- Do you not see how dumb this looks Hemebond? Why do you think I didn't bother replying to ignatios? Either post something that is worth the letters it's printed with or don't waste forum space, please.
"...I was being playful and not serious."
Seriously Elenkis, I don't really read too many of your posts on these forums... & because of my lack of familiarity with your persona on these boards... I stupidly aSSuMe-d that you were actually being serious. I apologize for that.
"...but I'd hope people know me well enough by now to know that I wouldn't use "so there! :p" as a serious argument."
Ok... now you're rubbin' salt in the wound. ;) I get the message. My bad. Just call me a stupid n00b & we'll be even... k? ;)
Seriously though Elenkis, I do apologize.
As for SoD, well actually I never knew they released mission packs for it. Hey, give me some credit, I didn't get into pc gaming until System Shock 1 after all.
On a technical level Elenkis, id Software can call SoD a sequel to Wolf3d all they want. They can have the last word in every argument known to man on the subject as far as I'm concerned. But personally... 4 months is not enough development time (or wait time) for an official sequel. It's an excuse to try making more money.
As for what an add-on is. Well, I guess, that has to do with me being too comfortable with the word add-on in terms of pc gaming. I guess the definition of a mission pack, an expansion pack, & an add-on pack all differ in some small way. But, like I said, I'm just too damn comfortable with the word add-on... so you'll have to try to forgive me on that. :cheeky:

read what has been written! You can't just expect people to use your version of the English language. It has been put in very plain english for you and you
still insisted on arguing. Which, if my memory serves me, is the true meaning of trolling.

"Really? Well then how about shut the hell up and read what has been written!"
The irony of this would be lethal to you.
"You can't just expect people to use your version of the English language."
No... of course not. I can't expect people on a english speaking forum to know that it's just my opinion. Or to know that almost everything on these forums is just that... an opinion. That would probably be asking too much... right?
/me wonders if he used enough rolling eyes smilies.
"It has been put in very plain english for you and you still insisted on arguing. Which, if my memory serves me, is the true meaning of trolling."
Wow... talk about irony again. It's also been put in plain english for you that it's all just my opinion... & voicing one's own opinion is hardly arguing. And with exception of the mistake I made with Elenkis & your whining, it has been almost a mild debate... hardly an argument still. Yet you still insist on complaining about it. That IS true troll-ing.
"Perhaps you missed the ;)."
Hey! Who let you out of your cage? Get back in there you! Come on... get! ;)
/me puts ignatios in his cage & places a bag full of cookies in there with him.
Now eat them cookies & keep quiet you. ;)

who cares really?
But i'd say if it requires the original game & somehow blends in with it then it's an add-on. If it's stand-alone, a sequel. And i'm sure there are things in between.
I don't know about Blue Shift as I haven't played it. Haven't even finished Half-Life (now you can shoot me).

Not everything is worth the time.
Gothik on 3/6/2003 at 23:54
And Blue Shift further confuses the issue as it was supposed to be an "extra" or "add on" for the Dreamcast version of Half Life, but was released as a standalone PC game after the Dreamcast version went tits up.
Dave Angel on 4/6/2003 at 00:44
The PC version of Blue Shift was an expansion set though, you needed the original Half-Life to play it (unless I'm being misled by it billing itself as an expansion set, that is).
Gothik on 4/6/2003 at 01:19
Blue Shift was definitely stand alone, I've got it. I would have preferred it to be an add on though and preferred it even more if it had been free. Luckily I didn't actually pay for it... (Nah, I didn't warez it - it was a gift).
