Hm, not surprised, I had a bad feeling about it. :)
Well, I'd actually tried sneaking during conversation - my immediate idea after seeing your video. But the guard always went into full hunt mode. Probably I haven't found yet - as it happened at Baffords - the optimal path, where normally only first alerts would be given.
I'll retry in a week, now I am off to snowy mountains with the kids...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45rrISrQ2LA) - yeah, there is indeed a small spot where one can carefully drop without getting them into hunt mode (but I could do that only 1/3 of the times, if not less - I know I'm clumsy). Also: the stationary guard does not always pivot when I am in the room (when I listen to the conversation from the stairwell, he always pivots and I can always freeze him). But in the end I could do it for a couple of times, I think the longest dry spell, about half and hour or so was when I tried to record it :). I reloaded the quick save done at the end of the video and I waited about 10 minutes for settling remarks - none, so I think I'm clean. :)
