Thanks again, k., for your informative videos.
There is something else I'd like to comment, and it's about supreme rules. I saw that in Endless Rain you skipped some loot as the opening of the "chamber of secrets" requires shooting a holy water arrow, which according to the "no potions" rule would be a bust.
But: is applying this rule to holy water vials really appropriate? I think the spirit of the rule is to prevent people to achieve "supreme" by avoiding guards with invisibility or impossible jumps and/or descends. Which I am fine with.
The "normal" usage of holy water is implicitly forbidden by the "no damage" rule. In my opinion, using a HW vial to open a door should no constitute a bust for Supreme (in the same way as lighting up a torch with a fire arrow or triggering a button with a water/moss arrow isn't...). If the rule, as currently formulated, is too restrictive, then it should be adjusted...

Thank you for your input here ultravioletu. I love it when players take an interest in the rules. I actually thought about your point when playing this mission. However I'm usually quite strict when following the rules and don't try to excuse them to avoid the bust. But I do agree this use of a potion is not what the rule intended. It was like you said to prevent avoiding detection. A few times in the past though my playthroughs have triggered slight changes to the rules. Maybe that can happen here too. It's up to the admin though. In the past Peter Smith has been responsible. Perhaps he'll chime in if he reads this.
Again, I love the topic. :-)

Well, you're supposed to be strict, the're no no alternative, not when you offer yourself to worldwide scrutinity :)

I don't think any one person "makes" the rules, and I think Peter would be the first one to agree. They have always been open to discussion, and certainly many alterations and clarifications of the rules have taken place over the years because of those discussions. So I encourage you to discuss this issue here and over on the Eidos forums in the ghosting threads.

I meant the rules can only be edited by someone with admin credentials. Certainly it would never be up to only one person. I simply phrased myself poorly before.
Further on this topic, I think whenever the rules prove to be too general and therefore cause limitations to situations the rules were never intended to limit, a rewording of the rules should at least be considered. This is a good example of that, as the holy water potion certainly isn't used to avoid detection, but rather to solve a puzzle. I remember in Broken Triad mission 1 Arkford there was a similar situation where you had to signal a guard by dousing a torch. Since removing light sources isn't allowed for Supreme, this constituted a bust, although you were never in jeapordy of getting seen and could relight the torch before anyone set foot in the room. There are other such situations yet in other missions.
We already rewrote the rule that touched on moss arrow use. I used one to solve a puzzle in Black Frog mission 4 and it partly busted the mission, simply due to sloppy writing.
