Hello, I am a clueless newbie (sorry).
I am a huge LGS (and associates) fan and have completed all Underworld, Shock and Thief series. But, as yet, not Deus Ex as I didn't meet the system requirements on my old machine. Yesterday, I got a brand new PC with Deus Ex and I'm wondering if anybody else is experiencing slowdown problems in random places. The game runs smooth through most places but then goes into ridiculous jerk-o-vision for no apparent reason. Is this a bug? Do I need a patch? It can't be a hardware problem, I have 128Mb RDRAM, a 1.3GHz P4 processer and a 32Mb GeForce 2 MX; all drivers up to date etc.! Somebody help, this is really irritating.
Cheers,
Azaelus

You should increase the cash size for the game. In the Deusex.ini file, look under the heading:
[DeusEx.DeusExGameEngine]
Then change the cache size to 32:
CacheSizeMegs=32
You also might want to tweak your Virtual Memory settings.
BTW, if the massive slow downs occur when you're standing next to a wall, and are even worse next to a ladder or chainlink fence, then you need to turn the Detail Textures Off.

He shouldn't need to turn anything off! I have a voodoo 1 (yes that pathetic) and for some miraculous reason i can play deus ex with smooth graphics. Try to ignore the jerk-o-vision as it isnt common.

Use the latest single player patch if you don't play multi-player game, most Geforce card owners said there is improvement. I get improvement also even I have a Voodoo II. <IMG SRC="laff.gif" border="0">
